Unless you're driving down from Scotland, maybe get the family to call you from the airport.

I was there about 11 years ago.
The toilets were nice and clean.

Park up somewhere. Get them to call you when they're ready. Simples..

Check how many other flights are coming in at their arrival time.

A couple of flights from Spain all arriving at the same time is not going to speedy.

Just been through Toulouse and very impressed at how quick they were and how little they bothered with paperwork.

Leaving the UK on the other hand

Every UK airport is short-staffed at passport control. Expect 1 hour extra minimum.

I went through Gatwick a couple of weeks ago and it was the quickest transit of an airport I have ever made.

from airbridge to car in 15 mins.

This may have been exceptional but I was very surprised as I had prepped my expectations for a long queue

Yep, Liverpool was deserted a few weeks back as well.

Might always be like that but very pleasantly surprised, runway stairs to unlocking the car in under ten minutes.

Heard that whichever terminal isn’t being used a lot right now is in a horrendous state - serious rat problem in that ghost town

Does this actually affect British nationals? At LHR and LGW you go straight through the automated gates in normal times, can’t imagine staffing has a huge impact there
