Yes and given the current climate and revelations around underage groupies its probably best that its retired from the programme. The Stones have some dodgy rumours about them and teenage girls. Apart from Bill Wyman and the 13 year old there is Keith Richards. God knows what skeletons that guy has in his closet.Hugo wrote: Wed Oct 13, 2021 9:30 pm Didn't realise how edgy the song was tbh. One of those songs where I know the chorus but never paid enough attention to the rest of the lyrics to know exactly what the song is about.
Not that he'd be able to remember many of them!!!FalseBayFC wrote: Thu Oct 14, 2021 6:31 amYes and given the current climate and revelations around underage groupies its probably best that its retired from the programme. Unless I've misunderstood it after listening to it for 4 decades, it's an entirely anti-slavery song.Hugo wrote: Wed Oct 13, 2021 9:30 pm Didn't realise how edgy the song was tbh. I'm maybe being slow but you will need to explain the anti slavery angle to me, I just don't hear it.Torquemada 1420 wrote: Thu Oct 14, 2021 8:12 amUnless I've misunderstood it after listening to it for 4 decades, it's an entirely anti-slavery song.Hugo wrote: Wed Oct 13, 2021 9:30 pm Didn't realise how edgy the song was tbh. Well it’s certainly taking about the horrors of slavery. I don’t think you can doubt their support of black people, particularly in that eraBlackmac wrote: Thu Oct 14, 2021 7:52 pmI'm maybe being slow but you will need to explain the anti slavery angle to me, I just don't hear it.Torquemada 1420 wrote: Thu Oct 14, 2021 8:12 amUnless I've misunderstood it after listening to it for 4 decades, it's an entirely anti-slavery song.Hugo wrote: Wed Oct 13, 2021 9:30 pm Didn't realise how edgy the song was tbh. Read a bit more about it. Marsha Hunt claims it was written about her. Jagger was 26 at the time and Marsha was 23. I'm pretty sure that its just a young Jagger being a "Right on!" It was the decade of Civil Rights and Black panthers and Jagger had a hot black gf. Not hard to see how the song came out like that.Slick wrote: Thu Oct 14, 2021 9:33 pmWell it’s certainly taking about the horrors of slavery. I don’t know. I’m trying to figure out with the sisters quite where the beef is. Didn’t they understand this was a song about the horrors of slavery? But they’re trying to bury it. At the moment I don’t want to get into conflicts with all of this sh*t. Sold in a market down in new orleans.

Hear him whip the women just around midnight.

Drums beating, cold english blood runs hot,
Lady of the house wondrin where it's gonna stop.
