We have a vodacom mobile router with pretty fast wifi. Pay R299 a month for 30gigs day and 30gigs night. With Netflix and a bit more rugby

we ran out if data fir the first time ever.
We are renting and there is no phone, so I guess that Fibre is out if the question.
For R500pm MTN and Rain both offer uncapped wifi. I don't see a similar plan for Vodacom.
Any suggestions? In layman's terms please.

I am also a bit gestrem. My laaitie play games and speed play a role if he play and we watch Netflix. I had Telkom LTE but it trotle from 150 gigs usage. You have to look at Fibre if available. My cost a installation fee but then it's a once off and your monthly installment will be the cheapest for the speed you get.
The advantage with LTE is that you can take the router with you and have wifi where ever you go.

The simplest way would be to buy additional data for the day.
Where are you? presumably you want to be connected immediatly?
I use Axxess who are a PE crowd, but their LTE packages are based on MTN.

Edit: looking at their websites, I see they have moved to Telkom for their LTE.
Edit again: I see their MTN LTE offering is similar to what you are getting through Vodacom, but 50 bucks cheaper.

Top up prices: R70 for 10gig, R150 for 25gig.
You could keep your router and swap out the sim.

If you can afford both packages, buy the Axxess package as well as the Vodacom and use a
load balancer to connect your network to either.
That would need you to set up your network with additional wifi access points, but should, theoretically, give you almost double the speed.
The load balancer will draw from the MTN isp if the Vodacom gets slow and vice versa.
Problem solved.

I use Rain's 5G service instead of fibre and it has been great for me. But it definitely depends a lot where you live to get full benefit out of the 5G service. I have used their 4G service on and off when I was travelling elsewhere in SA and needed some internet for work, and it worked well for me. Sometimes Telkom has some great deals on their 4G internet services. But if you are in an area where you can get a good rain connection I would definitely suggest it from my own experience. Unlimited data for a decent price.
For me Vodacom and MTN are daylight robbery on their data packages for the most part. So I always avoid them where ever possible. I always get the minimum data required on my phone from Vodacom, to just do the basic messages/emails when away from wifi areas.
