I think it was after the bomb went off, which in fairness was quite suspicious.

I read the bomb knocked the driver out and when he came to, he scrambled out and locked the door behind him,

If you watch the video (in the link in OP) the bomb/detonator goes off with the taxi driver in the car. You can see him scramble out after it goes off. Assume it failed to go off properly.

Not sure it is, the beeb saying he's converted to Christianity. Although could've lapsed or cynically used the conversion for asylum I guess.

Two car bombs have just gone off in Kampala, Uganda.

By the initial looks of it, nothing too serious despite it happening in city centre. Hopefully the plums involved were just as incompetent as the Liverpool one.

As an aside, why do we never hear of any of these plums' family members being arrested? Hard to believe no family or close friends ever had suspicions that these arseholes were demented, god botherers.

But they still think the target was the Cathedral, not a terribly Christian act. Plus the explosive used was the same one used by the Manchester bomber and others. Looks like a lot more to come out about this. As I said, they are all fucked in the heid anyway.

Have you seen the CCTV of it going off? I assume the bomber was in the back seat but the bomb didn't even injure the driver. Bomb was packed with ball bearings too apparently.

Quite a sad story in the Mail about a retired army officer and his wife who met this guy at church during his conversion and then took him into their house for 8 months. What good people and it's very sad this happened to them.

Also seems very lucky he totally failed in his mission. Would've been truly horrific if he got in the hospital or rememberance day services. I guess we never know how lucky we are sometimes.

I was being sarcastic. However, it's an interesting moral intellectual exercise whether when faced with an enemy whose modus operandi is to "die to the last man or victory", the only practical solutions are surrender or total annihilation.

Here, the enemy does not care about his own life and so the threat of death is meaningless (setting aside the practical implications of detecting individuals amongst a concealing mass of anything: forests or people). What credible deterrent does that leave you with?
