Flake Ntamack. What's the point?

No. One kick to Penaud when Sco were already f**ked and there was no pressure does not exempt the rest which was just sh*t. Epitomised by the wave through to the try line for the last Sco try: an effort that would have embarrassed Garbajosa.

Jalibert is a better player and should be the 10.

Agree, Ntamack seemed pretty ordinary yesterday, he is being hyped from the performance against New Zealand, since then i have seen nothing that justifies all the media wanking over him.

You will struggle to see a worse 80 min performance by any intl FH than that.

Perfect example of Ntamack's inability to manage a game.
"Let's not be too hard on Romain Ntamack........ but he experienced
an unusual amount of waste, which could have cost his side dearly. 2 missed pens to touch and then a direct kick into touch. Too many inaccuracies."
RED: except it's not unusual (cue Welsh singing). It's actually all too common. His tactical kicking game is sh*te and his real weapon is the threat he poses when attacking the line........ which he does all far too rarely.

I wouldn't class those as poor game management. They're just execution errors. If he was kicking to touch when he shouldn't be and vice versa, that's game management issues.

I don’t know what’s going on with him, but since the 6N he looks like he’s in the fog. He’s just lucky to have Dupont next to him dictating the game.
Sequelae from Covid?
Thankfully Jalibert is back today after his club's medical team did its best to ruin his career. Shades of Castaignede

Hopefully he doesn't break again.
But I bet Jalibert will never be ahead of Ntamack in the pecking order. The way Ntamack manages his attacking line puts him ahead of Jalibert who is more of a showman than an organizer.

It was 1 doctor, and he has been fired, Jalibert wasn’t the only one, 4 others were badly treated by this doc. Shades of Castaignede

You don’t watch Bordeaux often , don’t you?
It's an unbelievable statement. That's my whole argument really: Jalibert is the organiser and Ntamack the flash. What's even more bizarre is even if you've never watched Jalibert, Ntamack has been uniformly mediocre to awful since the AIs.
For the worst example, again, go back to the Euro game where Toulouse played a 3rd string Cardiff who had to bring in some players who were virtual amateurs: one of them at FH. And that guy made Ntamack look like the part timer.

Yet elected best FH of the 6N by fans, journalists and former players.

Where? It wasn't a vintage 6N for FH play but Ntamack ahead of Biggar is hilarious.

What a strange game.
1) UBB looked superb under the high ball for a Fre side.......... right up to the point that Buros was beaten in the air by the shortest man on the park to concede a game losing try.
2) Too many dinosaurs out there who should be pastured: Tin-Duck, Lakafia, Parisse, Pica.
3) Jalibert looked surprisingly sharp for someone who's barely played in months. One kick direct to touch to blot copy book.
4) Excellent performance from Carbonel who kicked everything.
5) Villiere is so damn good. In the end, UBB's lack or precision (reminded me of Canes earlier) and being hammered at the breakdown was their undoing.

What do you make of Aymeric Luc? Couldn't see the game but I see he scored twice. Were these simple run in or is he displaying qualities as a finisher? We need depth on the wing in France and that would be good if he were a candidate.

Just realised, wrong thread for T14! He was excellent last night. A bit like Dulin for the short period Dulin was good. Totally stood up Jalibert for the 1st try (although Jalibert was left covering 2 on 1 at FB despite Toulon down to 14....) and made Buros look bad for the 2nd by taking a ball in the air he had no right to win.
Luc is a FB though?

I've only seen about 4 RCT games this season and he's not played there in any of them. Anyway, they have Villiere, Cordin and Kolbe and so not short of wing options.

Torque, you will be pleased. There are rumors that Dupont could move to the fly-half position. You'd get rid of Ntamack then unless he moves to 12.
Le Garrec-Dupont could be exciting.

Belongs on this thread.
1) Yet again, Ntamack is in Bernol's flops
Il a été moins inspiré par la suite, mis sous pression par la défense adverse, et n’a pas trouvé de réponse tactique
2) PR
Romain Ntamack might be able to tear defences apart from time to time but ask him to manage a close game of rugby in the manner of Sexton and you’ll be disappointed.
There’s a reason why he’s never quite been a fixture in the French 10 jersey and today we saw why. When faced with a defence of the pace and intellect of Leinster, his armoury is somewhat bare and he resorts to standing too deep, and offloading ill-judged passes for his team-mates to take the contact that he refuses to take himself. In terms of game management and intellect, Sexton was playing rugby at a different level today.
3)

Ntamack has had a shocker, everything he has touched has turned to shit
He's a luxury you can't afford at this level of the game

Moving onto scrum-halves, I think France are currently blessed and could survive without Dupont:
Lucu
Couilloud
Le Garrec
Serin
Colly...
So much choice!

Couilloud had a vey good season. He offers more than Lucu IMO. Le Garrec has the potential to leapfrog them all.
Plenty of good options to complement NTamack and to form a great half back duo for the French team

Le Garrec will play for the U20. May be he is not going to Japan yet.
There were talks of moving Dupont to the fly-half position. He could pair with Couilloud and Ntamack at 12. That would be an exciting combination.

I don't think ST can afford to play Dupont at FH. I hope they don't anyway.

They have done so a few times during games, moving Ntamack to 12, and usually with good results.

I think that's true-ish but your order is optimistic.
1) Le Garrec. And that's probably it for test standard.
2) Lucu. Passable intl.
GAP
3) Couilloud showed he hadn't the temperament to be an intl against a very poor Aus. Maybe he will develop that mindset. Maybe not.
Serin should never be let near an intl shirt ever again.
Colly?

Way back when I said Dupont was a special player in the making, I made the post the day he had to fill in at FH for Castres, and I said he actually looked better than any current French FH. I did not mean he should play there but that it showed his range of skills.
I don't care what position Ntamack plays, as long as it's not for France.
