Not sure if there's a thread about head injuries in rugby. But here's a great interview with Michael Lipman and his CTE - Chronic traumatic encephalopathy. This shit supersedes any concerns about how red cards affect games. I'd be happy to see any changes to the game that make the game safer.

He was great for Bath prior to the whole marching powder fiasco. I didn't realise he's also suffering this and it's just horrible to hear, although perhaps should have sadly seen it coming with the nature of playing 7 in the early years of professionalism and the way he played.
I've quite a few worries about players from that era - for avoidance of doubt, I'm not suggesting any link between the drugs bit and dementia, more that it felt like conditioning and the physicality of the game suddenly rocketed in the early 2000s and the governance, control and 'professionalism' of the game remained resolutely amateur. I remember a few nights Alex Crockett and his brother would be out in Bath causing a bit of bother and thinking that it was no way for a professional to behave, and wondering who in the club was helping players with these sorts of things. No-one, it turns out, which just reinforces the view that they really weren't well protected.
