New Phone advice

My Trusty 6 year old Honor 9 is dying a slow painful death so I am in the need of a replacement.
Don't really need anything flashy or expensive just a decent run of the mill Android phone with expandability

Any ideas?

Moto G9. Argos were selling them for £99. They're great, big battery, turbo charging, 4gb ram. Does 98% of whatever a £500 phone does.

That's the phone I have, and that's what I paid for it. It's a great little phone, the only thing it's missing is a magnetometer.

If you can still find one, I can recommend the (also 6 year old) LG V20. Never sold in the UK, it has replaceable battery, SD card slot, dual SIM and is pretty cool.

This year I switched to a Samsung Galaxy S20 and got one for slightly over £200 from Backmarket. It's ridiculously high quality reconditioned and is a superb phone.

I spend a little more usually, the last two phones I’ve had have been OnePlus. Both excellent, thinking about a new one later this year and I’ll stick with them. I’ll be looking at the OnePlus Nord2T, currently £370, but it’ll be on sale as soon as the OnePlus Nord3 comes out, which should be in the next month or so. Very high spec for the price, with a slightly cracked version of Android they call Oxygen, which gives more flexibility, but has no apps preinstalle dither than native Android ones (I.e. no bloatware).

I just bought an S21 FE to replace my old iPhone X. For some reason Samsung released it early this year, about a year after the S21 and just before launching their S22 range. I'd been watching the price come down for quite a while and got it for around NZ$900. I'm very happy with it and would recommend it as an option if budget allows.

I got a OnePlus Nord 2 back in January this year. Still very happy with it.

Inexpensively simple and competent according to tech radar (my go to for reviews)

Key drawback is no 5g but if that doesn’t matter to you it seems a pretty good cheap phone.
