15. Louis Rees-Zammit – Dropped a couple of easy-ish catches, and whereas last week he was motoring, he was lacklustre and easily gobbled up by the Georgian defence. 3/10

14. Alex Cuthbert – This is the Cuthbert we know and love hate…running laterally into touch, getting a yellow, generally bumbling about the field like he’s lost. He had been on something of a renaissance, but this was more like the Cuthbert we remember from his first stint. 2/10

13. Geroge North – One of the few who looked like a Tier 1 player playing against Tier 2 players. Consistently made big yards in contact, but did manage to miss as many tackles as he made, 6/10

12. Own Watkin – Anonymous. Made some tackles and that’s about it. 2/10

11. Josh Adams – Usually something of a standard bearer for sheer effort, he looked like he was coming back from injury, and was just not at the races. 3/10

10. Rhys Priestland – Actually won some kicking battles, but other than that, he just never got the back line moving. The fact that he is seen as our third in line flyhalf at this stage of his career is as damning an indictment of Welsh depth as anything else out there. 3/10

9. Tomos Williams – Kept things ticking over in the first half, but he’s fast approaching the point where he is considered a senior player, and unfortunately, he went missing like the rest of the team. 3/10

8. Josh Macleod – You’ve been waiting your whole life to play in Welsh jersey, and would have been surely chomping at the bit given that you were cruelly denied the opportunity to play for Wales earlier in your career due to a badly timed injury…and then, when the day finally arrives, against an opponent where you could ease yourself in, you produce, nothing. He manged the grand total of 6m for 3 runs as a No.8. Abysmal doesn’t quite cover it. 1/10

7. Justin Tipuric – Was the shooter in defence, and so racked up some tackles, but was nowhere to be found otherwise, and was severely lacking in the Captaining department where he neither led from the front, nor galvanised the troops through speech. 3/10

6. Jac Morgan – Top tackler for Wales, and top try scorer. On another day, this would have been a standout display, showing that Morgan is ready to take the next step up. As it is, the loss casts a large shadow over everyone’s exploit. 7/10

5. Adam Beard – 2m for 2 runs. Against a Tier 2 team. The fact that he’s seen as the preeminent ‘young’ lock in Wales is about as depressing as it gets. He wouldn’t be within a country mile of a starting spot in any other international team, yet he’s the flag bearer for our lock stocks for the next generation. Jesus wept. 1/10

4. Ben Carter – Like Macleod, Carter had the opportunity to put down a marker against what should have been game, but ultimately overmatched opponents. The fact that he looked like the worst lock on the field, once more brings into sharp focus just how poor our lock stocks are. Like his lock partner, his was a work-shy effort where he too only had 2 carries, for a grand total of 6m. 1/10

3. Dillon Lewis – Managed to attain the dizzy heights of below average during the game, which was a distinct step up from most. Scrummed, tackled and carried to middling degree. 4/10

2. Ken Owens – The biggest issue was that as the elder stateman of the pack, he should have been putting down a galvanising performance to show the rest what was required. Instead, he missed some regulation lineouts and was another one who was nothing more than average. 3/10

1. Gareth Thomas – One of the few that. while not being able to quite carry his head high, can be pleased that he didn’t completely shit the bed. Scrummed well, hit tackles, and showed good physicality. 6/10

Tactics Talk
I don’t watch every pro match of rugby out there, but I give it my best shot, and I genuinely don’t think there is a worse attack, at any level, than Wales’ current backline efforts. For al the talk of how bad a result this is, and it definitely was, we still had enough ball there to win. The fact that none of our forwards can get over the gainline with any regularity can potentially not be attributed to Pivac (although good coaches can make things easier by designing tactics where players aren’t asked repeatedly to truck the up in ones)…but the fact that the backs, even when they get front foot ball, are totally incapable of producing anything of note, must squarely lie at Pivac and co’s feet. The fact that our ruck work is embarrassingly slow, must squarely lie at Pivac and co’s feet. The fact that even after several years, it’s still not possible to decern what Wales’ tactics are… must squarely lie at Pivac and co’s feet.

It's hard to know where we go from here if Pivac stays. He has stubbornly refused to change tactics, which means either he’s a moron, or he’s a shit coach and only has one set of tactics. Either way, it’s a pretty grim outlook, as there doesn't appear to be a quick fix to the current malaise that currently grips Welsh rugby.

In a way I'm glad. 60,000 plum who don't bother to turn up week in week out to support our club game got exactly what they deserve.
