For me I think the whole concept is all about societal control.
So to be a man apparently you must have (or seriously fucking aspire) a job, a car a gun (depending on whatever country), own your own home, a healthy bank account, a family, respect, and be a mixture of Clint Eastwood, John Wayne and the Andrew Tate thing.
I mean kindness, generosity, humility, compassion, friendship, loyalty and thinking about complex societal issues outside of labelling people " loser" "alpha male", " pussy", winner" are unmanly small dick traits.
Has the concept of manliness been co opted by the right wing to push males into line and into a brainwashed right wing way of thinking?
Physicality over musicality, artistry and philosophy, political science and sensitivity?
What is being a man if not about a method of control?
To be a woman you just need to be a certain age and a vagina. That's it, you are a woman.
(I know the concept of gender etc is complicated, that's the other thread).

Some medical professionals and pschologists say being autistic or being high up on the asperger scale is a form of hyper masculinity.
I used to hang out with someone with aspergers and he only used to talk about Motorbikes, engineering and electronics. A proper man's man.
He was never one to talk about or show emotions or feelings.
His favourite film (and the people he looked up to) were the blues brothers.
Hyper masculinity.
I only learned later he was also gay.

A person who is Ready to fight at the drop of a hat and protect, and compete, earn.
Is it just a concept invented by women to repress the male, and bend us to their wills?

I was never more attractive to women, than when I was a steelworker and got into regular barfights (mainly against my brothers).
We were legion, us "men", in Ebbw Vale.
The last fight I got into was because someone looked at me funny and I was seriously drunk (reasons) . Hit him once and then let him ( and his mates) kick the shit out of me because I got bored of hitting him after 1 punch, and the one punch instantly got all the anger etc out of my system.
Manly attractive to women stuff.
Or just f'king stupid.

For me this is one of the most important topics of the decade.
What is it to be a man, who defines what it is to be a man.
Are the people who we let define what it is to be a man, people who already possess those defined characteristics and traits, and are they basically trying to hold what they have developed over us, to get us to admire them in some way, and as a way to monetise themselves?
Why do we let others define what it is to be a man? Most of these Alpha Males don't seem that bright,
Do you really want to James Haskel your life?
I have no interest in fighting, if I loved weights as much as I loved practicing guitar I would probably be the size of a house, in three years.
Most here seem to admire Martin Johnson style of punch you in the face for fun, type masculinity.
Playing "pass the punch" in the face in the pub.
Imagine that culture or trying to prove yourself in that culture.. fucking'ell.
British Steel was bad enough, and that was just arm punches.
Again Women don't have to do this shite.
To be a Woman is simply being over 18 and having a Vagina.
If I "want a woman:" thats it.
Any one of the female of the species, over a certain age, is a Woman.

A man is an adult human male.
