“403 Error”

Hello Mods. Is there a known issue with posting right now, I keep getting a “403 error” and have been since last night.
Edit: it seems to be on the Scottish thread in particular. Clearly this post worked but I cannot post on the Scottish thread. The error message is “403 forbidden”.

Are you abroad?
I was away in South America over Christmas and was getting the same error message when I tried posting. Works fine now that I'm home.
Might have been a coincidence tbf.

Depends what abroad means in the context of where the board is based I suppose, but I am in the uk and am usually in the uk. I presume nobody else is having the issue given there are no ‘me too’ replies so it possibly is something my end.

You're not alone. I was 403'd with monotonous regularity about 6 months ago, but it seems to have come right since... with the odd exception.
A quick search shows that others have also had this issue from time to time.

No known issue, a 403 error is generally due to a permission on the server being incorrectly set. I have checked and rechecked the server permissions and they are all correctly set. It is definately not systemic, if it was everybody would be experiencing it across the entire site.
Sometimes it can also be triggered by a VPN, or if there are too many calls to the server in rapid succession as it might think there is some sort of attacks underwsy, but the logs are not showing anything.
I have been unable to reproduce it myself which makes it harder to nail down to anything specific.
If you are able to reproduce it consistantly, can you outline the steps you use to do that please, also add in OS version and Browser type and version you are using as well thanks.

Ok, cheers. If it happens again I’ll try to give you a step by step of what I was doing and a link to the specific post (assuming it is always an issue when quoting).

That tracks. It's only ever happened for me on posts where I'm trying to quote someone. Never managed to track down exactly what the trigger was, though.
