There was a new HGH test introduced a couple of years ago which has moved the detection window from a few hours to a week. HGH isn't the complete freebie it used to be.

That was the bit that didn't make sense to me, when throwing the accusation at the WRU.

I could much easier believe he just made a day trip across to Spain, to get hooked up.

Doping in France is incredibly dodgy, because after the Festina affair, it's not just the sporting authorities you are in trouble with, but it's also one of the few places in the world where it's a criminal matter too !
