Deserves a thread as it is to all intents and purposes a knockout game

Bin decides mauls don't collapse by themselves, that's a change.
Nice power, step and finish

Japan falling off tackles. Argentina look much more dynamic than previously

Don't often see locks scoring those sorts of tries. Cracker.

Would say that will stay as a yellow, not what Japan needed having been on top for the last 10

Yep, if that gets escalated to red some serious questions need to be asked about consistancy of decision making.

I'm not really sure how much lower he could have got. He was just about bent double and was moving down not up.

Dumb rugby from Japan, very well taken by Argentina. Selfless from the nine

Japan just taking the ball standing still all the time, makes it simple tackling practice for Argentina and negates anything the backs try to do

Superb try, and that’s what Japan are capable of. Fascinating game and you sense both sides are aware that there’s a really viable semi final in their futures

Cracking match for the neutral who wants both teams to win.

Maybe. Bunker had it as high degree of danger with mitigation due to a sidestep (which I did not see) and chest contact at same time.
Next week we are into sudden death. We will be seeing games decided by the vagaries of the officiating evident since day 1 of this comp. As a coach (esp of the fancied teams), you'd think they'd be screaming at their players in every training session to get low.
For France, I will be worrying about Atonio and Tao in every tackle.

He’s lucky they score straight after but with the space they had they would have had a much easier kick

From every restart, Argentina might as well try to volley it than catch.

I quite like them although possibly not for rugby. Remind me of Peru at the 1978 World Cup. Very South American and the colours work. Not in the same league as that SA abhorrence.

Thoroughly enjoyable

Only just catching up with highlights, not too often to see a lock forward make a successful chip and chase by himself
