Is Rugby just Resenta'tainment?

My thesis on this one is quite simple, is Rugby just Resenta'tainment now?
So like the Daily Mail, Rugby drags you in with patriotism, anthems, cultural displays, Hakas etc..makes you believe this commercial money making product is somehow super important to your national identity, to the extent that we have to give it tons of taxpayers money. It then keeps you locked in and talking about it all week (after defeats) through controversy and resentment about (in most cases) the Ref, Players cheating, various dramas and Personalities etc.
The game is wide open for creating controversy, and is essentially a controversy machine, and loves it so, from the Ref giving his own personal interpretion of "laws", to Eddie Jones and Gatland (and various players) hitting the headlines in the press..
It would much rather us feel resentful, angry, embittered after a loss than feel despair, miserable or lose hope....and not come back.
Are we buying a product that winds up fans so much they turn up the next week, and boo the two teams that make it to the final..... ffs?
And why are we allowing or building a commercial product to make you feel or behave like this?

So easy to concoct outrage when your enemy is they and them and your friends are we and us.
What a fraud. You I mean. You being Refry. Just to be clear. Because ambiguity is the fraud's friend. As you well know.

I think knowing the game is effectively resenta'tainment, realising what it is...that ut is essentially an anger inducing, embittering money making project.. I think knowing or realising that, is a lot healthier for fans mental health, than us all turning into fucking Wildkard (a ranting and raving, post match resentment stoking Aussie rugby fan on youtube) etc.
Maybe knowing precisely what it is, will keep the death threats to Refs down to a minimum.

resenta'tainment
Coor, how clever is that!
Concocting a nonsense word to describe yet another of your hokey theories... I used to think you had more genuine concerns that occupied your life. Has it all been made up attention seeking nonsense, or was there actually some substance behind your incessant sermonising?

Gumboots, resenta'tainment hit Britain in about 2004. It is powerful stuff. It has won elections, turned society against the absolute poorest weakest, sickest, it has brought us brexit, and embittered and divided the entire county. The daily mail, the mirror and sun are all about it.
It works wonderfully.
I am contending that the entire rugby industry, a money making concern..and its pundits use outrage (resenta'tainment) as a tool to keep people interested, after defeats.
I think it is important to realise this. That it is now resorting to dangerous daily mail type stuff.
Hope this helps...though I don't read your posts as I have like ten responses from you across various topics (that I also haven't read) and my alert /-notifications is full of responses with your name. Like six in a row. Thats' never a good sign, and is usually indicative of a certain unpleasantness.

Christ alive, don’t ban him for a week again if this is the steaming chod of pop psychology that lands in the lap as a result.

My apologies for mistaking this place for a chat room. His one-way "conversations" are only ever virtue-signalling lectures.
Anyway, all good. I'll do my best to ignore him from now on.
