Plus the change, I reckon.

I periodically used to stick my head in there but haven't for quite a while: never previously realised how much a small cohort of posters dominate the bored discourse to such a large extent. Every last one of them, tedious, self-righteous or importunate (sometimes all three). Better posters here.

Lord only knows. I note that the Chief rumour-monger is absent so we cannot ask for an update (I wonder why he's hiding?)

PR Forum - place was all downhill after the Girffriend Contiki tour thread a few years ago......

Not sure if this is how it works as I try to avoid marketing bods but, his behaviour in the last few months has resulted in the F365 forum buggering off pretty much in their entirety and a large section of the PR forum doing the same. As a result, the amount of traffic (both cumulative and unique) to the parent company's sites in general has dropped & I wonder if as a result they can't charge as much for the ads they host.

If so, I suspect he's not very popular at the moment.

I'm speculating but that's how it works in the print media, the amount charged for adverts there is based on circulation figures.

The ads they're displaying will almost certainly pay out on a per click basis, maybe partially on just views. So they'll notice significant drops in traffic to the site.

Aren't we overstating the exodus, though? There are plenty still posting there, and many of us posting here frequent PR still.

Yeah where's the new moderating or new owners. Regardless he's responsible for starting of this forum.
However the football forumers started their own forum thinking it was gonna be closedtoo then Jake turns up saying they've completed work on that forum which means it wont close down.

I think the F365 exodus has been quite significant, though it's hard to tell as you can't access much on their old bored without registering first. In comparison to them, our numbers on PR both pre and post Jake's latest bout of attention seeking was small potatoes.

No chance. It was never very clear how he convinced even a chicken-sh*t media outlet like PR that he was a journo but he's pretty much bomb proof there.

But isn't that gang the old Collision Point crowd, and don't they still post endlessly on PR anyway?

Honestly, I don't believe there's been much of a slump over there.

A quick glance says
- 147 users online
- of which 12 registered, 4 hidden and 131 guests

If that's the norm these days, it's effectively dead. The "guest" stuff is meaningless.

well i have a couple more admins in place who can manage in the event of my untimely death, i may also share the server logons with someone else who knows what to do at the back end so there is continuity, also i run a full backup daily so in a worse case scenario someone can restore the bored elsewhere if needed

I check it out occasionally but not posting there atm.

Reading some of the frantic angry posting has put me off a bit.

This place has a relaxed Mediterranean vibe at present.

Not the red faced (or blue faced so that it’s not discriminatory) angry Londoner vibe as of yet.

Plus I think ASMO deserves the traffic, compared to PR given the relative handling of the 2 systems and the users to date.

Yeah a bit weird.

Jake went to great lengths to tell us how much we weren't wanted or needed, because everyone was reading the great pile of shit posted on the main page.

Then the license ran out, and everyone migrated here en masse. Then it was possible to post there again.

In the process of stamping his heels, he lost about half the traffic.

You can't tell me many people read that pile of ass on the Planet Rugby homepage. Even the Sunday Times would struggle with the ancient cunt Stephen Jones and the other dinosaurs in their final throes.

Site stats
PR - all PR not just forum
Since end April bounce rate up over 20%
Page views down over 40%
Rank is down by nearly 60k

https://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/planetru ... on_traffic

What's interesting is the metrics are quite similar for f365
Since end April bounce rate up over 30%
Page views down over 30%
Rank is down by over 10k with consistent drop over last 90 days.

https://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/football365.com

This maybe what happens every year at this time or it could be that there's little sport going on, which is probably likely to have an influence but they're both more that their sports so who knows. A bit of googling shows that f365 members raised over 8k for a new forum on gofundme

Yeah, it's interesting how a change of scenery can sometimes give you a fresh perspective on where you've come from. All power to ASMO for launching this lifeboat.

I haven't visited PR much at all in recent years, apart from popping in for the RWC. But that was enough for me, tbh.

The vibe here is far nicer and is the primary attraction.

Most of the usual suspects looking to spend virtually their whole post count arguing and pontificating about politics/current affairs haven't made the jump.

It's exhausting just watching some of the energy people expend conducting circular arguments online. I'll engage every now and then in a moment of weakness, but go and so something more productive after a couple of posts. Life's too short.

There's still a good bit of traffic on PR, but the relative lack of rugby just means that must of the discussion is about non-fun stuff, which is hardly going to engage people enough to get involved.

Only so much Brexit, Trump, Covid etc you can talk about with the same few posters who are always on before it loses its appeal.

I've not had the need to on here yet. I only tend to put pure (often short lived) troll logins on ignore. And Globby, who I could deal with, but drew the line when he went on a spree of posting tons of one line consecutive posts.
