Well it's not England missing out on great refereeing by this sort of thing continuing.

Sadly not a surprise given the recent interview he gave to the BBC where he mentioned receiving death threats.

Another notch Rassie can claim though.
See Saffers, this stuff doesn’t happen in isolation.

Wow!
So Rassie has been sending threats to Tom Foley?
I hope that WR deals with him good and proper!

Poor Rassie. Even when he wins, he loses.
I hope WR can track down all these social media scum and have them prosecuted. It's just a fucking game man.

If they had the first time the situation might not have escalated like it has.

He was put in an impossible position - the referee's referee in the most important game of the most important tournament of all.
Just like the absurdly early draw, it only detracted from the event.
World Rugby's arrogant ineptitude remains a worry, but hopefully this shit never happens again.

Ah yes, the ad hominem defence.
Abuse of referees existed long before Rassie was about. Social media has amplified it beyond recognition in recent years. This is not a Rassie or a South Africa problem, unless you're Stephen Jones of course. By focusing on one person, you are ignoring a much, much bigger problem.
Look at the comments Anton du Pont made at the end of his SF exit. Was he hauled across the coals for that? It was completely out of order, but as he's rugby's golden boy he is given a free pass.
The same goes for some of the comments coming out of New Zealand after the final.
It looks like Owen Farrell could be hounded into early retirement by the abuse he is getting. I'd like to know which fanbase that came from.
We've got a massive problem on our hands here, and every rugby nation and union needs to take action.

It's the Boks and their fans who are the root of all cuntism in Rugby. FACT.

Good post.
Every country does have it's issues, to a greater or lesser extend, but there are certainly idiots across the board.
I'd like to think a refs strike would focus minds, just stop all rugby mid-season as a protest, but unfortunately I think that would most impact the decent folk and the social media dicks would just move to something else for a couple of weeks. Something has to happen though and it needs to be dramatic.
Edit: I am semi serious about Rassie, and to be fair, Dupont as well, though. Not enough Saffers called him out for what he did, even on here it was only a couple who put their heads up and said it was out of order. We can't complain about it ruining the game if we don't put aside nationality and call it out for the whole game.

Without doubt the game, like football, talks about the importance of respecting officials, and then flat out refuses in the overwhelming main to suspend/ban players and coaches (and fans) who very much act against a supposed value of the game.
Really the game should stop making certain absurd claims about its values, at least one of them is clearly a rancid lie

Rugby is now just part of the resenta'tainment industry, , It's designed and built for it.
We have laws (to be interpretated) instead of rules..and a outrage industry, all over youtube and social media, that blows up whenever their team loses.
All the excuses for defeat are written before kickoff.
It's always the refs fault, the opposition was lucky, there was a massive cheat that was missed...your team played shit..
No loss is fair.
No credit is given to the opposition.
In professional sport, where marketing departments and PR departments work overtime and invest time and money building up teams and hype, there are no gentlemen in defeat..only outrage and resentment.
They know if you are angry, hard done by and resentful you will be comibg back next week, but if you are resigned to your defeats and the reality of your teams crappiness is just making you miserable as fuck...you probably ain't.
