Ah yes, another rugby tournament in the Western Cape during winter. I wonder how many games will be washed out this time.

I was thinking about this over the weekend. I find the SA interest in schools rugby a bit weird to be honest, but I guess it’s just a cultural thing that we don’t have.

For avoidance of doubt, I’m not having a dig, just a always surprised how much it’s discussed and covered by Saffers

Schoolrugby is the basis of SA Rugby. Thats where the culture starts. When a 7 year old play rugby he bring his family to support. In our main rugby schools even small little towns where WP Nel comes from, it starts with Calvinia vs Loeriesfontein interschools.

To explain it. Interschools involve all winter sports against two rivals. This weekend Grey College ranked 2nd plays Paul Roos, ranked 1st. They do chess, golf, soccer, debating, hockey mountain biking, long distance running and rugby. The 1st team rugby will be the main game and decider of winning interschools. Markotter stadium was a sell out a month ago.

From the 10 minutes I caught, it seemed like Ireland were on top until the replacement English front row came on.

Watching the program and they do swimming, tennis, table tennis, E sports and waterpolo aswelll.

When my kid was still in Paul Roos rhe players and supporters traveled with 50 InterCape busses up to Bloemfontein.. Paul Roos had special deals for accommodations and travel for supporters. Was always my best trips with lots to drink while travelling 1000 km.
