Working in London today, so took advantage and staying a couple of extra nights.

Royal Opera last night. Tales of Hoffman by Offenbach (who died a few weeks before the premiere clutching the manuscript in his hand). It's mental and fantastic, and has robots - genuinely remarkable considering it was written in 1880. 19th century Opera with robots ffs.

Just about to see the Stranger Things play - based thirty years before the TV series. Phoenix Theatre done up with fake 50s posters and all music from the period.

Tomorrow, Juno and The Paycock, with Mark Rylance. Opportunity to see the best stage actor in the world was too good to resist.

Early train back to Edinburgh Sunday morning to get back for the rugby.

We went to Ballet Rambert's Peaky Blinders at the Festival Theatre in Edinburgh a few weeks ago - I'd recommend it if it comes to a theatre near you

Sounds bloody brilliant!! Theatre in London is klarse.

I don’t really enjoy theatre to be honest, just don’t really get it. In saying that saw a brilliant short show at the Fringe so maybe I should give it another go.

I’ll do the ballet under protest and enjoy most kinds of theatre. But opera can suck my dick!

Theatre is about finding your niche. I love finding weird shit at the Fringe.

Musical theatre needs to be separated into two categories

1. Andrew Lloyd Webber and his ilk - burn them all then shit on the ashes

2. Everyone else including Rodgers and Hammerstein, Les Mis, and others of their heritage and tradition - fine high quality entertainment

Get the right production at The Globe and it is an absolutely amazing experience. This year's Much Ado About Nothing was brilliant and summery, even with the rain pummelling the groundlings.

Quite like ballet, saw kiss me Kate this summer was quite good fun, never seen opera despite having a nephew who works at the opera house so can get cheap tickets. Will give it a go one day

Yeah, The Globe is brilliant. I saw Jonathan Price as Shylock in The Merchant of Venice there.

He was, obviously, fantastic, but the main thing I came away with was how much I hate that play because every single character in it is a fucking wanker.

Saw Iain MacKellen do King Lear in Stratford. Absolutely amazing.

Edit - resulted in me being a theatre wank because I went to see Kenneth Branagh do it in London last year and found myself thinking 'well, obviously it's very good but he wasn't close to Sir Iain'.

A brief ex of mine played the characters Killer Queen & Meat in We Will Rock You at the Dominium , that was pretty much my first and last time at a theatre box as I got to.

I'm seriously tempted to subscribe to the Globe Player, tons of plays on demand.
