Our drinking and party time still a few hours away. For those already in the mood. Enjoy and cheers. 2024 was a good year, make 2025 even better.
Indeed. Bring on more good than bad in 2025 please!!!Slick wrote: Tue Dec 31, 2024 9:35 am
I have to say that 2024 was a bit of a shocker all things considered, with flashes of good stuff.

I lost mine 4 months ago, things gradually get better and I hope you eventually have great 2025salanya wrote: Tue Dec 31, 2024 6:42 pm Just lost my dog on Sunday. Rescued him 9.5 years ago, and he was beside me through house moves, job changes, a pandemic and new relationships.
Not sure I'm ready to start a new year without him. 2024 sure has ended in the most terrible way.
Wishing you all the best for 2025, and make sure to cherish the things you love most in life.
Sorry to hear that - losing a pet is devastating. We lost our old cat a couple of months back - she just turned up about 15 years ago and adopted us.salanya wrote: Tue Dec 31, 2024 6:42 pm Just lost my dog on Sunday. Congratulations PB - Such a wonderful time of your life - until you have kids you can't really understand just how much you will love them and how much they change your perspective and priorities. It's an adventure that makes everything else pale in comparison. Hope all goes well.Paddington Bear wrote: Tue Dec 31, 2024 11:12 pm Wishing everyone all the best for 2025.
All things going well we’ll be welcoming a mini-PB to the world in mid-2025 so a lot to look forward to and indeed budget for (you have to be joking as to how much a buggy costs!) next year. Preliminary negotiations have confirmed that he or she will support England which I’m sure the kid will one day forgive me for
This is great news, congratulations!Paddington Bear wrote: Tue Dec 31, 2024 11:12 pm Wishing everyone all the best for 2025.

I hope your 2025's are excellent for you and your families.
Also, annual thank you to ASMO for this fine place!
Should imagine the insurers had something to say about that decisionBlackmac wrote: Wed Jan 01, 2025 2:41 amSlick wrote: Tue Dec 31, 2024 9:35 am Happy new year to everyone.

The shitshow of Edinburgh's Hogmanay celebrations kind of summed up the mess of 2024. It's like the world is just becoming too weak willed to have fun anymore. I see there is already a groundswell of interest to have an unofficial Hogmanay party next year and boycott the council mess.
Good luck to youdkm57 wrote: Wed Jan 01, 2025 8:29 am Happy New Year everyone.
I'll be spending a good part of the early months going through and recovering from Stem cell treatment and chemo.

Indeed but it was a terrible decision. Even on Monday it was no more than a strong breeze and the forecast for the 31st had been decent for a few days. Most people are angry that what used to be a traditional, spontaneous celebration has been utterly hijacked by commercial interests.SaintK wrote: Wed Jan 01, 2025 8:53 amShould imagine the insurers had something to say about that decisionBlackmac wrote: Wed Jan 01, 2025 2:41 amSlick wrote: Tue Dec 31, 2024 9:35 am Happy new year to everyone.

I'm 6 years through the very same situation, although slightly further apart. It's a massively difficult time but I knew that both my parents, and especially my dad, had led incredibly exciting and fulfilling lives that I could only dream about so it was easier, and and also a great relief to eventually see them go.TB63 wrote: Tue Dec 31, 2024 10:34 pm Lost both my parents in the last 3 months after caring for them for the last 5 years. Aaah, I see! All sounds a tad premature and poor decision making.Blackmac wrote: Wed Jan 01, 2025 9:49 amIndeed but it was a terrible decision. The company that run the event actually had the gall to send out a warning to residents not to travel into the city centre because they couldn't guarantee their safety. It turned out to be one of the mildest Hogmanay nights I've seen.
Anyway. Happy New Year to one and all.![]()
The weather was fucking miserable in Edinburgh yesterday.SaintK wrote: Wed Jan 01, 2025 12:12 pmAaah, I see! My wife's family are from Edinburgh and we've had some spledid Hogmanays up there. Including the Millenium which my kids who were teenagers back then still remember with awe!!!
Nah, nonsense. Just typical December weather, the likes of which has never affected the celebrations before. 2003 and 2006 were absolutely horrific with properly dangerous winds.Biffer wrote: Wed Jan 01, 2025 1:28 pmThe weather was fucking miserable in Edinburgh yesterday.SaintK wrote: Wed Jan 01, 2025 12:12 pmAaah, I see!
