The former Griquas, Freestate and Junior Springbok tighthead prop was murdered on his farm just outside of Bloemfontein over the weekend.
He was probably the best tighthead prop of his generation. I scrummed against him in the early to mid 90's. Was the toughest bastard.

His garden engineer who worked 14 years for him, killed him with garden tools. They drank together with the housekeeper and started to argue anded with the murder,
The garden engineer appear in court (where Bester was a magistrate for years) in a Cheetah rugby jersey

Ah Jesus, what a tragedy. It's one of the supreme cruelties of life that well intentioned people can suffer at the hands of people they are trying to help. RIP.
