From rugby, advised to retire on medical grounds, but for the injuries he was plagued with, he undoubtedly would have been one of the greats, very rapid, very elusive and a natural try scorer, enjoy your retirement.

Ahh that's a damn shame for him. Very good player, could never quite understand how he did it, but he did.

Class winger, England were a better team with him in it.

Eh, we won the grand slam in 2016 and equalled the world record number of consecutive wins after that.
Autumn 2020 was the start of the rot despite the win against a second string France in the autumn nations cup.
Weirdly with Watson, he was a much more effective winger than fullback. Weird because he was way less of an attacking threat, not because of any other weaknesses.

I bow to your stats, thought that Gs was nearer to our decent 2019 RWC than that, sadly post 2003 I am just used to years of utter shit with occasional bright spots.

The Eddie Jones' England timeline basically runs:
'16 - '17 Good
'18 - '19 Variable, one standout performance in the world cup semi
'20 - '22 Mostly crap.

Shame for Watson, it has felt like this was somewhat inevitable with the last few seasons seemingly an undending string of injuries for him. At his best he was one of England and the Lions most dangeorus attacking weapons.

Only really got into rugby at secondary school, GS loss to Scotland 90 then rwc91 were kind of my start positions. Semi recall earlier years matches watching with my dad, but I soon went off and played Lego or scalectrix

If you’re not calling 16-17 great, aware of what came before and after, you’re the rugby equivalent of commenting ‘2/10, would not bang’ on a supermodel’s instagram

Seconded.
One of my favourite players from "other" teams
