Former Lions centre Jamie Roberts contracts Covid-19 and out for PRO 14 season restart

Former Wales and British and Irish Lions centre Jamie Roberts will miss the restart of the PRO14 rugby competition after contracting Covid-19.
The 33-year-old, who is now isolating and reported to be in good health, has returned to Wales to play for the Dragons after a short Super Rugby stint with the Stormers in South Africa.
A qualified doctor, Roberts volunteered for the National Health Service in Cardiff before signing for the Dragons, and also recently visited France, according to social media posts.
The Dragons confirmed a club member had returned a positive Covid-19 test, but did not name the individual.
The Dragons’ statement said: “All subsequent Public Health Wales and Government guidelines are being followed and the individual – who is symptom free and in good health – is currently isolating.
“Dragons Rugby is part of the wider Welsh Rugby Union screening programme which has conducted over 1100 tests to date as part of the return to training/ playing process.
“This is a confidential and private health matter, and we will make no further comment.’’
Newport-born Roberts won the first of his 94 Wales caps under Warren Gatland in 2008. He last played for his country in 2017, against the All Blacks in Cardiff.
He toured South Africa with the Lions in 2009 and Australia in 2013.
