Not actually going that badly.
12 - 26 at HT. 3 of Sarries 4 tries coming from mauls that LI have no answer to. Billy with a nice close range effort for the other.

The father? I doubt it. He was a good player, a fullback for Henley. He used to be the nut buyer for Mars.

Finished 12 - 40.
Odd given the scoreline, but was actually fairly encouraging. Youngsters held their own apart from not being able to do anything about the maul.

Moderately talented nut buyer it seems. Quins and Northampton bin juice apparently, unless he's been telling his lad some tall stories.

30th January 1993 v London Irish at Sunbury
A week before this friendly at Sunbury against London Irish, we had dispatched Wakefield in the fourth round of the Pilkington Cup by the score of 47-18. They were looking for revenge after we had beaten them in a league encounter at the Stoop back in October by 47-24. This match will be largely forgotten except for the twenty man brawl near the end which resulted in the Irish number 8 (Verling) being sent off for stamping. With most of our big names being rested, Paul Challinor with three penalties and a try from Mike Wedderburn saw us home against two penalties from Michael Corcoran.
Quins: Kent Bray, Mike Wedderburn, Gavin Thompson, Mark Evans, Jeff Alexander (Andy Parton), Paul Challinor, Rob Glenister, Simon Brown, Paul Simmonds, Andy Mullins (c), Troy Coker, David Dix, Mark Russell, Chris Sheasby and Richard Langhorn.
Whether that was just a trial or whatever, no idea, but he definitely turned out for Quins. Hope he enjoyed the twenty man brawl!

Well, he ended up at Henley eventually! Nicknamed 'Dolly' naturally.
Played against Sheasby from that team as well when he was at Staines, in a league game. They had another England player in the team as well that day, Richard Pool-Jones who was capped on the infamous 'Tour from Hell'. Most of the rest of the team were recent or current Welsh u21 players which was incongruous to say the least. Assume they had a Welsh coach.
Compete overkill recruitment to win the league at level 5 though. We were thrashed, a hundred-pointer. They won the league and we were relegated that year. I also retired as a player.

How weird! stumbled upon this quote text doing a search.
Totally out of context, I know that aforementioned Irish number 8 - Aran Verling. Had the unfortunate displeasure of working for the despicable cunt (but not anymore). Good to know he never changed.
