In the interim, or in the absence of one, Cassels has done it again.

They've won the he best stout, therefore the best beer in word gong for the second year running.

I’m not a fan of stout, ergo it can’t even qualify as a contender for best beer in the word.

But congrats on starting an important thread

At my wedding, the missus planned all the food and booze around where we had met and our stories from our travels thereafter. Part of this was represented by the Alaskan Brewing Co. I'm partial to the Alaskan White, meself, but all the guests agreed that nearly everything they make is absolutely wonderful.

I am a fan, at least of good ones. I'm also a fan of porter, IPAs, APAs, pilsner, bitter, lager, scotch ale, pale ale, brown ale, Belgium ales, German and British beer in general.

However, I do not especially like sours, though I can tolerate some.

That's a bugger. I don't seem to be able to get it here, in NZ, but I will make enquiries.

Garage Project has been on fire lately, two new Hapi sessions (which were the standout beers of last year) then sunrise valley this year (currently highest rated NZ beer on untappd) and now they release another crossover with trillium brewing from the US. A double hazy at 8% abv
From Upper Moutere’s Freestyle Farm we travel to America’s Yakima Valley for our second hop harvest collaboration with East Coast brewing legends Trillium.

A hop free boil and massive dry hop addition of hand selected Mosaic and Citra create a giant juicy hazy homage to the hop growing mecca of Yakima Valley.

I'll be buying some this week

You can get a rough idea of the flavour of a beer by looking at the hops used. Citra is very citrussy (duh!) and Mosaic is fruity.

Technically its a double new england IPA. Smoothie/Milkshake IPAs have lactose, the above doesn't. But whatever floats your boat.

They pump out just so many very good beers. Sort of relatedly, I hope the excellent fish&chip just down the road from their Aro St bar has survived the shutdown period.

Helped a mate recently with some things for his home. He’s at the other end of the country. Done for love, didn’t expect this to arrive today.

Nice! There appears to be an odd one out though.

Had the Parrotdog Rodney West Coast IPA last night. Very easy. Was nice to drink something that wasn't hazy for a change.

Their White Stout in the cream and red can takes a bit to get your head around. As golden as any lager, yet a coffee stout. Confusing to the brain.

I will have to look out for that. I have a fridge full of Behemoth brews at the moment thanks to an excellent deal from Beer Hug.

Don't try sculling that bottle of Out Of The Woods. The first sip will give you a twitch, the second a tick, by the fourth you'll be on your way.

I speak to him fairly regularly and he wants everyone to know he's given up beer and now only drinks cocktails.

I'll give them a look.

I got the lockdown box from Brew By Numbers last week. £54 for 24 beers. That's pretty good value. The Pilsner is unexceptional but all the others are very good, especially the Imperial Gose.
