RC is from 7 Nov - 12 Dec. Can expect a squad of 40 players.
Not many SRU/CC matches for them

We should NOT play the RC.
They will probably pull most from the NH plus SARU need any cash flow to survive.

You should ask Saru.
Probably mean that our rugby was locked down way to long and the competition will unlock Superrugby.

Not playing in the RC will have major financial implications, but if we do play, I fear that we will be undercooked.
Catch 22.

In 1981 we had one week of trials in secret to prepare.
There are both sides to a coin.
Our coaches know what needs to be done.

Agrred, the Rassie and Nienaber combo will make a plan. They managed to turn the Boks from losers into world beaters in 2 years. What's been interesting is that Nienaber has spend extra time in the Western Cape with the Stormers. Surely we can expect the bulk of them to feature for the Boks. With not a lof of time for combinations to click, it makes sense to pick the majority from 1 franchise and it seems they favour the Stormers. In my opinion, quite correct.

Does picking Malherbe count as 2 players?

Stole it off Twitter, I believe it is recent.
Yes he's always carried a few pounds, but that is quite something else.

One of the best, if not the best part of rugby is that it's a game for all shapes and sizes. You need the fatties and the fairies to win games. Sure, he has a diesel engine and it will take time to play full steam, but class is permanent.
Re Malherbe, let me point you to this ->
https://www.rugbyworld.com/tournaments/ ... nce-105734 and
https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/rugby-wo ... frica.html and

There are a few other articles, but I think I've made my point.

I agree with all of those articles, and with your post. But you've got to agree he can lose a few kgs? He was in much better shape this time last year:
At least Sards knows he can get a few burger orders from him.

Even at his best, Frans looked a bit overweight, see RWC2019. Not sure if I believe twitter, but I'm sure Dobbo and co will whip him into shape sharpish. No matter who you are, fitness is not negotiable at that level.
Mind you, I think the majority of people came out of lock down a few kg's heavier. I know I did...

I lost 6KG and I had nothing to lose so mostly muscle mass but still. He must have really let himself go over lockdown as he was in the best form of his life prior. That's disappointing for a professional sportsman especially at national level. I hope the rest kept fit, would sure hate to see world campion Springboks wobbling and bouncing around like jelly when the rugby starts up again.

That wasn't the case in Super Rugby Aotearoa. Not only was there no evidence of players gaining weight whist locked down, but several players who have had long standing weight issues returned slimmer and fitter than ever. Most notably Akira Ioane, who finally made an All Black squad because of his improved body shape. I guess the difference may have been no fast food and less drinking/socialisng.

You know, I really tried being nice to you on this new board but I'm beginning to regret it now. What fokon assumptions? I didn't assume anything. Don't know were you get this kak about they'll whip him into shape in no time ether. They've been non-contact training for how long now and he still looks like he swallowed 4 scrumhalf's, what did he look like before they started whipping him then? I'm sure his coaches was just ecstatic when he showed up looking like a pregnant cow after lockdown. Fok you're such a stupid poster and with no Yank to mimic there's nowhere to hide your stupidity.

Calm down, princess. All I'm saying is how do you know that pic is legit? And you are rating his level of play on what? A pic from twitter? I think it's prudent to take a wait and see approach before we jump up and down and moan about player's fitness level.
I have this box where I put posters, when they can't argument or debate a point, they revert to insults and name calling. You've just joined nipper in that box.

If I knew when that pic was taken, sure, but I don't attach a lot of value to twitter and for me, his level of play is all that matters. If he plays well, he can look like the Michelin Man, I don't care.
