The Last Duel - Book/Movie

I saw mention the other day of a movie being filmed at Cahir Castle in Tipperary and Bective Abbey, County Meath, based on real events so I looked it up.
It's the story of the last 'trial by combat' legally sanctioned in France 1386. I don't know how much of the backstory the movie will include but it's a cracking tale and a period of history I've never known much about. Apparently it's a fairly well known story in France which had been interpreted as a miscarriage of justice until recently enough. The duel itself was brutal and there were three lives at stake.
The main protagonist was a minor noble looking to restore his family fortune who was knighted for raiding the North of England with the Scots. His own castle in Normandy had been sacked by English raiders at some point. He accused his former friend, and rival at the time, of raping his wife. It sounds like a sequel to Vikings.
It's based on a book, ordered, I'll definitely read before watching Hollywood version.
