When are you putting yours up?

The 5 year old started asking two weeks so I relented and put the tree up today.

It's been a miserable year so hope folks so go all out on the lights.

Our whole street is putting exterior lights up this weekend. They all decided that we needed to do something to help cheer people up. My wife, having agreed to do this with the neighbours, told me that I would be doing this

Tree will be delivered on 14 Dec, so not yet. But the wife is getting the many fairy lights out of the attic and getting ready to completely cover the staircase and mantle. Mental.

Sunday before Advent is the earliest. Anything else and people should be put on a register.

The women on our street have agreed something similar, the men have made it clear that they can do it their bloody selves (though quite how many will stick to this I don't know)

Same here. Fortunately my wife won’t let me near DIY and things like this, definitely her department

I normally put mine up the week beofre (40s, no kids) but this year they're going up first week in December. Not a lot, just some bits and pieces.

We will be putting them up this year for the first time in years, even bought a decent tree, my thinking is 24 Dec but I suspect it will be first week in December.

We've just moved into the first house that we've actually chosen for the first time in my life, it just felt right from the minute we pulled up to view it and feel really settled here. So the thought of sitting in front of a log fire with a glass of red wine in my hand, the cat snoring on my knee watching, a Carol service with the room decorated with tinsel and lights is quite appealing.

My partner is heading early to isolate in the Channel Islands to spend xmas with her parents, think I'll have to get a tree etc to mitigate the depressing bachelor vibe that my flat will inevitably start to develop...

I’m usually a hardcore “Not until two weeks before” but we’ve compromised on December 1. I think Ms GL would light up when the clocks go back if she had her way.

I have a friend who does that. The tree is the same artificial one every year and it stays fully decorated under the stairs, under a sheet for the other 364 days each year. Saves the hassle he says.

You can plant it atop the fort you'll inevitably make as a festive flag replacement.

Does anyone else still have any decorations they made as a child? I have a bog roll angel, a snowman made of two circles of white cardboard (his pipe went MIA many moons ago) and pride of place goes to my three kings, essentially set of triangles cut into one piece of card, plus a head for each, decorated with a wide selection of tat.

What with the kids' handmade shite they cart back from school each Yuletide, our decorations are properly amateur, as they should be.

I normally put two trees up.
One in the hallway to commemorate the Mrs Neighbour, who died about ten years ago..we call it "Gwyns Tree".
We always think about Gwyn during this time bless her.
And a biggy in the front room.
The smaller tree always takes me much much longer to put up, I actually spend at least 2 or 3 hours doing this tree for someone I met only once.
Funny how quickly things become tradition.
I can never get it to look right.
Put both trees up about 4 days ago. Not even sure I am seeing the Mrs over Christmas as her ward is going back to a Covid 19 overflow ward any day now. Thought I could get them up before she returned to work (we have both been isolating separately for the past week or so), and make her smile and surprise her when she finally comes around etc, and before she has to walk back into the death cloud etc but nope. She was called back in today for 12 hours. Hasn't even had her test results back.
