Those Maclarens look very good with that paint scheme.

And LeClerc stuffs it into the wall to finish Q3. That’s a big rebuild for that car.
The worry is that he's fucked the gearbox up in which case it's a five place penalty to replace itScarfaceClaw wrote: Sat May 22, 2021 2:01 pm And LeClerc stuffs it into the wall to finish Q3. That’s a big rebuild for that car.

I think he might be okay; the front took so much of the momentum out of the car, before the rear hit the barrier.sturginho wrote: Sat May 22, 2021 5:30 pmThe worry is that he's fucked the gearbox up in which case it's a five place penalty to replace itScarfaceClaw wrote: Sat May 22, 2021 2:01 pm And LeClerc stuffs it into the wall to finish Q3. I can’t believe the amount of morons suggesting he did that deliberately.fishfoodie wrote: Sat May 22, 2021 9:31 pmI think he might be okay; the front took so much of the momentum out of the car, before the rear hit the barrier.sturginho wrote: Sat May 22, 2021 5:30 pmThe worry is that he's fucked the gearbox up in which case it's a five place penalty to replace itScarfaceClaw wrote: Sat May 22, 2021 2:01 pm And LeClerc stuffs it into the wall to finish Q3. Red flag to pick up what’s left of his car and rebuild the barriers.Sandstorm wrote: Sun May 23, 2021 5:28 am Monaco is such a boring track. Can’t we start Mazespin on pole and spice up the first 3 corners?

Leclerc’s gearbox appears to have failed before the race has even started.TB63 wrote: Sun May 23, 2021 11:48 amI miss Alan Bengio...sturginho wrote: Sun May 23, 2021 11:07 amThere does seem to be an inordinate amount of morons on F1 comments sectionsScarfaceClaw wrote: Sun May 23, 2021 9:32 am

Yes. No one moves up.Kawazaki wrote: Sun May 23, 2021 12:45 pm Good news for Verstappen fans. Not sure why every car now moves up a space on the grid though? Should be just an empty space in pole surely?
Up to Bottas to lunge up the inside.
Just heard on coms that they will move up ...
Are you listening to it in Dutch?

Even by the standard of dull Monaco races, this is a dull race. Maybe sombody can stick it in the wall to liven things up.
Not even going to waste my time watching it. Monaco must be the worst race on the calender for sheer boredom..

How many over takes were there in the race? Excluding the pit stops but on the track itself? 3?
Totally agree that the race was pants. But the outcome has made the championship interesting, which is good for the sport.
Mercedes rather messed up today, but Hamilton should take on a bit more blame - on a circuit where you can't overtake, you're not giving yourself much of a chance if you only qualify 7th.
Bottas must think himself cursed at this stage.

Over the hills and far away........
We don't know because the tv director didn't show them!ScarfaceClaw wrote: Sun May 23, 2021 8:21 pm How many over takes were there in the race? Excluding the pit stops but on the track itself? 3?

I think there was possibly one that was about to happen so the director cut away to a car going into the pits. At that point I took the dog for a walk.sturginho wrote: Mon May 24, 2021 7:45 amWe don't know because the tv director didn't show them! :thumbdown:ScarfaceClaw wrote: Sun May 23, 2021 8:21 pm How many over takes were there in the race? When Seb came out of the pits just ahead of Gasly and Hamilton, he was side by side with Gasly going up the hill and for some reason they cut away to a replay of Stroll going over a chicane.ScarfaceClaw wrote: Mon May 24, 2021 7:57 amI think there was possibly one that was about to happen so the director cut away to a car going into the pits. Then they were about to show the replay of what we missed and they cut away again to show Perez in the pits......

I just watched the highlights package - got bored - turned it off.
I keep giving this race chances - but it is the racing equivalent of a dirge. The cars are so safe now that the jeopardy is gone from the tight track. No passing and the race is essentially decided on the qualifying position.
Singapore seems to have got the mix of tight but chances to overtake - Baku also seems to have things right (with a few teething troubles).
But they'll never drop Monaco - so I guess that is just a free weekend to watch other sport.

Weirdly I didn't find it that boring (how quickly we forget the plethora of boring Merc 1-2 finishes in this hybrid era), first 20 mins were a bit meh, but it got better, only for the speculation of what might happen... Everyone waiting for the safety car/yellow that never came.
Delighted for Sainz and Norris, holding off the late charge from Perez.
Merc botching Bottas predicted a whole day in advance, so no surprise there.
Loved the stupid director cutting away from Seb making the only on-track overtake of the race, to show Stroll bouncing over some cerbs. Then after about 10 minutes finally deciding to show us the onboard of said overtake, only to cut away from that too. What a fucking idiot!!! Incandescent RAGE!!! (Director seemingly also missed the obligatory Totto bashing his fists on the desk moment.)
Riccardo getting lapped by Norris
Seriously embarrassing worsened by all the Sky coverage of 'Mr Monaco' beforehand.

If that's what Monaco is reduced to, then it's time to boot it off the calendar!Insane_Homer wrote: Mon May 24, 2021 9:47 am Everyone waiting for the safety car/yellow that never came.
If LeClerc and and Bottas hadn't had weird mechanical issues it would have been even duller than the weather channel.
