Ceasefire in the way. Let's see how long it lasts.
I often wonder if Israel have thought through what their end game is?
Seize the remainder of the West Bank and imprison 2 million Palestinians inside their open-air gaol?
There can never be peace unless they concede something. Might never be peace anyway but maintaining a concentration camp of 2 million people sure isn't the way to do it.
What strategic/political value is Israel to the US?
Quite.Uncle fester wrote: Thu May 20, 2021 5:28 pm Love lazy types copying and pasting wiki and not even bothered deleting the citation marks.

Anti Netanyahu coalition govt. looks to have been formed:
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-57336574
The eight parties that form the coalition are as follows:
Yesh Atid (centrist) - led by Yair Lapid (17 seats)
Kahol Lavan (Blue and White) (centrist) - led by Benny Gantz (eight)
Israel Beiteinu (centre-right to right-wing nationalist) - led by Avigdor Lieberman (seven)
Labor (social-democratic) - led by Merav Michaeli (seven)
Yamina (right-wing) - led by Naftali Bennett (seven)
New Hope (centre-right to right-wing)- led by Gideon Sa'ar (six)
Meretz (left-wing, social-democratic) - led by Nitzan Horowitz (six)
Raam (Arab Islamist) - led by Mansour Abbas (four)
As the article says it is a very diverse coalition unified by one thing - the desire to get rid of BN.

That looks like a clusterfuck of a government waiting to happen. Having right wing nationalists dominating will be giving the Democrats palpitations. There seem to be a whole lot of fascist types in that bunch.Hugo wrote: Thu Jun 03, 2021 6:30 am Anti Netanyahu coalition govt. looks to have been formed:

Sorry I forgot to put it in quotes, I'm sure.
:?
That stuff is the reason (as I understand it) as to why American Christian's are shagging Isreali Jews legs, like horny dogs.
Sorry if it killed the thread stone dead with my superior knowledge of the whole dynamic.
Surprised you geniuses never heard of this stuff tbh and it wasn't the second response.
My opinion of the whole Arab Israeli mess for what it is worth, and that sort of stopped developing six years) goes frankly
1) Israel will never allow a two state solution or a independent Palestine on their border.
2) An independent Palistine will basically be millions of extremely angry poor men, with dwindling water resources, starving on an ant hill.
3) as an independent state they will be able to get lots of access to loans for arms and Israel is terrified that they will have a weaponised terrorist state on their border, full of angry, desperate and heavily armed men, who don't give two fucks, and who can do some serious damage.
4) the chaos that we have now is what will forever be. This is as good as it gets, and this is just fine with Israel.
OK?

That in itself isn't a bad thing.Raggs wrote: Thu Jun 03, 2021 10:05 am It'll break down in no time at all. But it gets Netanyahu out, which is basically the sole purpose.
I'm generally in favour of proportional representation versus first past the post but Netanyahu is a perfect example of how it can go very wrong and he's a vile human being to boot.
Netanyahu is an example of how it can go a bit wrong. Bennett being PM is the real example of how much of a real clusterfuck government you can end up with.Uncle fester wrote: Tue Jun 08, 2021 8:45 pmThat in itself isn't a bad thing.Raggs wrote: Thu Jun 03, 2021 10:05 am It'll break down in no time at all. EDIT - That it'll fall apart within months is not much of a consolation.
