Daft clown hanging out a cardboard sign and mullered one rider. He went down and then it seemed like the rest of world stacked it on top on him. Was a huge crash.

Jailed for being a dickhead? It wasn’t malicious. Just fucking stupid.
It’s happened a few times at the Tour. The worst was a big crash in a final sprint caused by a policeman who was supposed to be controlling the crowds, but decided to step into the road to take a photo of the riders hurtling towards him.sorCrer wrote: Sat Jun 26, 2021 5:50 pm Don't think I've ever seen something so fucking stupid in pro sport.![]()

Causing an accident is a crime btw.
Hard to argue he wasn’t endangering the riders, I am sure there is a chargeable offence there somewhere…ScarfaceClaw wrote: Sat Jun 26, 2021 7:45 pmJailed for being a dickhead? It wasn’t malicious. Just fucking stupid.

You've obviously not watched enough of the Tour. Most stages have several near-misses, with members of the public more focussed on taking selfies, holding their signs or running along with the cyclists (forgetting that there are also other cyclists, motorbikes and other watchers or support staff on or next to the road).sorCrer wrote: Sat Jun 26, 2021 5:50 pm Don't think I've ever seen something so fucking stupid in pro sport.![]()
These were 2 big crashes today though; some very sore cyclists out there tonight, who still have 3 weeks of tough stages ahead of them.
Over the hills and far away........

The running alongside is normally up mountains so the damage potential is much lower. It takes a special level of useless twat to fuck up as badly as that spectator did.salanya wrote: Sat Jun 26, 2021 8:50 pmYou've obviously not watched enough of the Tour. A relative is riding in the tour. He was held was held up by both crashes - broken bike in the first, long chase back then delayed by the second ffs.
ASO has lodged a complaint to the Gendarmerie about the silly woman and her placard.
The gendarmerie has a witness search to try and find her
she could get a few month in jail if they find her.
Side note I am hoping the Alpecin shirt ends up in shops ...

Let's hope they don't put Clouseau in charge to find her! She deserves the book thrown at her.
If you're endangering people through your recklessness, then yes, there's a potential criminal charge.ScarfaceClaw wrote: Sat Jun 26, 2021 7:45 pmJailed for being a dickhead? It wasn’t malicious. Just fucking stupid.
And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?
Not a cyclist (got a decent hand built Dawes) but I was a pretty useful skier.
Went to Alpe d'Huez when there was snow and again when there was no snow at all.
How on earth do the cyclists get up that hill?
I've run up Mount Teide; that was quite bad enough.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-57631134Police say they are trying to trace a spectator in connection with a multi-rider pile-up during the first stage of the Tour de France on Saturday.
The female spectator was spotted leaning into the path of the speeding peloton, holding a sign, in the Finistère region of Brittany.
German rider Tony Martin brushed into the sign and fell to the ground, with others behind him following suit.
Police say they have launched a criminal investigation.
They aim to charge the woman with "deliberately violating safety regulations and causing injuries that might prevent someone working for up to three months".

This Tour could well turn out to be a, "Last Man Standing", affair.
Another day with a number of massive crashes, & the people expected to be on the podium in Paris, have all been involved.
This first few days gives you a proper understanding of what hard bastards they are ! I laughed at the ITV intro yesterday morning, when the casually referred to Marc Soler's withdrawal; he finished last on the previous day, & he rode the last 40kms ..... with two broken arms

Lots of supplements in their systems with pain-reducing factors?fishfoodie wrote: Mon Jun 28, 2021 5:20 pm This Tour could well turn out to be a, "Last Man Standing", affair.

The sign she was holding said "Allez Opi Omi!" - Opi & Omi are German for granddad & granny.
Left hand down a bit
Everyone has assumed she is German due to the sign she was holding but she could just as easily be French with German grandparents.
Cheers - I thought that was Opa &Oma (judging by my friends parents number plates)S/Lt_Phillips wrote: Tue Jun 29, 2021 8:56 amThe sign she was holding said "Allez Opi Omi!" - Opi & Omi are German for granddad & granny.
Think you'll find that both are correct. Well according to my half German wife anyway!Openside wrote: Tue Jun 29, 2021 11:56 amCheers - I thought that was Opa &Oma (judging by my friends parents number plates)S/Lt_Phillips wrote: Tue Jun 29, 2021 8:56 amThe sign she was holding said "Allez Opi Omi!" - Opi & Omi are German for granddad & granny.
I was listening to the ITV podcast and they were saying that they had heard Roglic has a condition which means even by cyclists standards Roglic has a ridiculously high pain threshold.SaintK wrote: Tue Jun 29, 2021 12:35 pm Good to see Thomas and Roglic starting today's stage after yesterday's mishaps
We know G does, he rode the TdF with a fractured pelvis.
Stick it on ITV4. David Millar and Ned Boulting are a pretty good duo IMO.

What an amazing finish! So tense watching the gap to the breakaway. Van Moer must be absolutely gutted, but seeing the peloton in full flight is something to see. And amazing for Cav.
