No, what I'm saying is if the money that was meant to build the guy a house was stolen by a politician and the deed to the land that the house was suppose to be built on got sold for R500 to an illegal immigrant. How is that then the colour of my skins fault? How is that then something that happened nearly 3 decades ago's fault? Why do I have to apologise for it? Why should I feel bad about it especially if the guy voted for said politician and continues to vote for them.

My parents struggled to put food on the table. My dad was a failed farmer, he went to bed hungry so his kids and his wife could eat the little that was available. My mom had to work at a shop as a cashier to bring in some money. I went to one after the other "platelandse" school cause my dad could not afford to pay the school fees and probably because I was a naughty little fokor. I had to drop out at std7 cause dad passed away and there was no money for me to go any further. I started working at an engineering shop as an errand boy, sweeping floors and cleaning the machines for R1200 a month. I saved what I didn't give to my mom to help raise my younger sister and enrolled into security training cause it was the cheapest. Got up to grade C and couldn't go any higher cause I had no matric. Got a job as a guard, again saved what I could and after a year had enough to finish school.

No boet, everything I have or had in life I had to graft really hard for, only for it to be burned to the ground by brainwashed thugs that bought into the politicians "white man stole your land" rhetoric or the "one bullet one farmer" rhetoric. I have empathy for poor black people because I worked alongside them and earned the same pay they did. I have great respect for black people that achieved something through hard work, perseverance and sheer determination. But I don't respect anyone who loot and steel because they feel entitled. And I certainly don't appreciate it when a corrupt politician tells poor black people that it's my fault that they suffer whilst steeling my hard earned taxes that was meant to uplift those very same poor black peoples lives.

My advice to you is to stop focusing on all the negative stuff that does not really affect you. And I agree that It's in your own hands to make it in life, but some people have start from way at the back of the line. Just feel as human beings its our duty to help our fellow man.

I don't tell my story so people should praise me or feel sorry for me. I tell it cause there's thousands like me and they are white. Not every white person in this country got where they are because of apartheid but they'll have to carry that burden for who knows how long. We need to come to a point were our politicians stop looking for someone or something to blame. We need to focus on what's happening now not what happened 30 years ago. We need strong leaders to stand up and say enough is enough and we need to hold crooks to account for the damage they cause.

my parents divorced when I was very young. It was a struggle. We were very poor with my mother the only provider. In high school I started surfing. Could only dream about a surfboard because we couldn't afford one. A friend had a blank someone had started. I saved up for fiberglass and resin and finished the board myself. It was orange and white and I put the resin on thick so it was heavy. But solid. I didn't have the machinery to polish it down so it was rough to thr skin. But I had a board and was never embarrassed about it. No wetsuit mind....so
Incredibly cold. It didn't bother me then. I never went on school camps Because we had no money and I couldn't compete against the other lads because my clothes were hand me downs from family. Many nights we had peanut butter on toast for dinner. My first job was salesman in a furniture store that my unvle oùrganized for me. Started my business at 23. Rented an amazing multilevel home in Kloof without knowing how I would pay the rent. Had a huge garage. Bought a welder and some materials and started making things. Started making some money so rented a factory with my father who had lost his business and started employing people. Was a tiny 100 square meters factory .
A bloke Bought my father and I out on the condition I opened a factory for him in Cape Town. Ran that for a few years before going overseas. Set up a factory in Borg El ARab in the Alexandrian desert. 2 and a half years and I was done although I learnt a lot. Left with a little money and no prospects and came back home. Found a job with a bloke wanting to increase his factory asked me to join him. Had fun with that for awhile. Learned more. Then I was approached to set up a factory for a bloke making boating accessories. Was poached by a bloke who also wanted to expand his business. Ran that for awhile and then got bored and went on my own. Expanded...contracted...am at a level I enjoying at my age. Was chatting with a mate and he wishes he could contract to a manageable size where he enjoys it again.

Tell us about all the projects, initiatives and money-raising events that you have initiated to help. Tell us about your business' better than required Employment Equity totals. Tell us how much of your money and time you are spending to make up for the decades of apartheid. Or do you think that telling of posters on a rugby forum is enough to sleep well at night.

Not much boet but that's why we have social programs to help people like him. But that doesn't help if the people in charge of those programs siphon the funds into their own offshore investments.

I'm ashamed to say I never employed anyone on my farm for farm work besides one guy that helped me with the upkeep of the garden once a month and a lady to help the wife with the house work once a week. Emphasis on help because we worked with them and when the day was done I'll pay them their R300 each and share a cold beer with old Jonas before he got on his bicycle, the wife would drop the lady at her house cause she stayed a bit further away. Jonas always refused a lift, he preferred going were needed to be on his dikwiel. I know animals and meat and never thought of planting as it's to risky and that's how my dad failed. Relying to much on good weather. I did however have 3 hectares under irrigation in the corner of my land were I planted a mixture of vegetables that was for a nearby settlement. Sort of a community garden that they wold tend to and take what they needed. When I was ready to sell animals I would slaughter one tollie and four sheep and drop it off at the settlement. That's all gone now though.

My father-in-law worked at a fairly high level at the railways. And he was told to join the Broederbond or he wouldn’t get promoted. He had an ‘Afrikaans’ surname. Having a higher moral standard than me, he refused and in tge next 10 years working there he was bypassed over and over.
