The GOP are desperate to disenfranchise anyone who might vote for the Democrats; while simultaneously doing their level best to kill off the thick fucks that vote for whatever gimp the GOP roll out

Trump is a grifter, he'll fleece his supporter's anyway he can, an example, if you donate to his cause, you have to read the small print and tick a box saying you don't want the donation to be a monthly donation...
Millions didn't, now there's court cases everywhere from idiots who donated, didn't tick the box, and have had money taken out of their account monthly instead of a one off grift. ..
I love watching little children running and screaming, playing hide and seek in the playground.
They don't know I'm using blanks..

I'm puzzled as to how Voter ID, standard since forever not just in the US but in every democracy, can somehow identify who to disenfranchise.
Congratulations -- you have just concocted the ultimate Conspiracy Theory.

I suspect you mean that the requirement somehow, after many decades, suddenly restricts Black voters.
So what you are saying to us is "Dem Black Fellas dey so dumb they don't know how to use ID to vote ... Dey so dumb dey don't know it's the exact same ID they use to get their benefits if applicable or to get their Covid support."

Here is a thread from some lawyer/economist on twatter:

He speaks of the strong likelihood of Trump doing time, but it's not entirely straightforward, in my view.

Here in South Africa, Jacob Zuma, the former President, has been arrested and is serving a 15 month jail term for contempt of court.

This has precipitated riots and looting in support of calls for his unconditional release, with shopping malls and distribution warehouses looted and burned to the ground.

Infrastructure like water treatment plants have been vandalised, and fuel refineries attacked in what are clear attempts to subvert the State.

Zuma's various offspring have been posting urging on the riots with video footage of men discharging shotguns at the current President's image.

I would expect at least as much in the US if Trump were arrested.

It's unrealistic to expect him to end up in prison...unfortunately.

His kids, & their spouses are all fair game; as he ran his company like the mob; with family members in the most sensitive posts; so they're all bound to be guilty of something worth doing time.

For the chief scumbag; if prison isn't possible, then penury & ignominy is the best alternative.

Take everything he has in fines, & penalties; & make him a pariah for anyone outside of the loons. He's a egotist who craves attention, & you can tell from his lies about how much he is worth, (even down to committing massive fraud to get himself on the rich list), that losing everything, will probably be more painful to him, than being in prison.

No shit!!!!
Vladimir Putin personally authorised a secret spy agency operation to support a “mentally unstable” Donald Trump in the 2016 US presidential election during a closed session of Russia’s national security council, according to what are assessed to be leaked Kremlin documents.
The key meeting took place on 22 January 2016, the papers suggest, with the Russian president, his spy chiefs and senior ministers all present.
They agreed a Trump White House would help secure Moscow’s strategic objectives, among them “social turmoil” in the US and a weakening of the American president’s negotiating position.

GOTCHA screams SaintK in triumph, as if completely oblivious to the caution in the opening paragraph that this is not confirmed fact but is only "according to what are assessed to be leaked Kremlin documents"... leaked presumably by that ever-omnipresent Democrat source, the infamous Anonymous.

But I can understand how SaintK instinctively knows that that the document is genuine, and that would be because it's written in Russian. And that is indeed "No shit!!!!"-level proof enough.

Given that the article you quoted came from The Guardian, it has just occurred to me to look back in to check to see if it was Luke Harding who had written it, and oh my goodness yes it was.

FYI SaintK, he along with Rachel Maddow were probably the two most significant purveyors of the Absolute Lemon that you all got sold which was The Steele Dossier ... which in turn of course fuelled the utter Much-Ado-About-Nothing farce known as The Mueller Investigation.

Just sayin'.

They forgot to mention that he's a "short-fingered vulgarian".

Or the six failed businesses which ended in bankruptcy.

Or the fraudulent University trying to scam desperate people for a bogus qualification.

Or the fact that he set up charities to use the funds generated for himself.

Or the rape cases outstanding against him.

Or his close relationship with certain paedophiles.

Or cheating on his various wives with prostitutes and porn stars.

A thoroughly admirable guy.

Nor here in NZ.

But then, we don't have massive voter fraud issues like they do in the USA.

Make that two down, as no ID is needed to vote in Japan.

You don’t need ID in your hand to vote in UK, but you have to register in advance and be on the list.

Untrue.

As a home-owner in Aberdeen, I never registered and didn't even have a British passport at the time.

I only found out I was on the voter's roll when I was telephoned by the local Tory canvassing for votes in an election.

There is far more that just id in the bill. It's more odious provisions are aimed at reducing the number of options for how you can vote; & indeed doing so to the point where it is logistically, impossible for all registered voters to vote in a ward; if the GOP doesn't fancy their chances.

oh yeah, the reality is that it has nothing really to do with I'd and everything to do with making it selectively harder to vote.

They showed their hand in November, in Texas, when they tried to reduce the number of polling places, & cutting the hours they would be open; & also reducing the number of drop boxes in a district, to the point where people would have to get in the car & drive for a hour, or two, to get to a box where they could place their sealed postal ballot.

There were people standing in line, for 5-6 hours, waiting to vote; because the GOP didn't want them to vote; it was trying to get them to give up on exercising their vote; by making the process as painful, as possible

It seems unlikely. I was a single man living on my own, but I suppose there might have been a census or something that I filled out. I certainly didn't intend to register to vote.

I wasn't a citizen at the time and I informed the official of such. He said "you are on the voter's roll".

The point is that at no time was I required to show any ID.

Certainly not my passport and the driver's license at the time was a folded sheet of pink paper.

I have no idea how it happened, but I can categorically say that I didn't register.
