While it’s great that Tom Daley has finally got a gold medal, the downside is that the BBC will now go overboard with his ‘story’, and all we will hear from them for the next few days is how brave and inspirational he is, and they’ll be showing mini documentaries narrated by Clare Balding about his wonderful achievements at every possible opportunity
2021 Tokyo Olympics thread
Watched the GB v Canada sevens. I haven’t watched this version in ages. Are all scrum feeds delicately placed into the loosehead’s feet or tossed, in the air, directly at the hooker’s already-elevated foot now?
Last time I tuned in, scrums were intense contests, usually won by the feeding team but the ball flying out and the feeding team under pressure. I think GB even elected to take the scrum on a penalty (which opens space, sure, but under pressure?) and it threw me for a second until I saw how they were guaranteed possession.

The cycle is suiting the brits. Other than the temperature it's like a standard ride in Leeds, even in summer
An Aussie? Haven't seen one of them for a while in this race.Enzedder wrote: Mon Jul 26, 2021 10:10 pm Race underway - it looks drier in the water than on the bike. I thought that would suit the Poms and Irish but it's an Aussie powering out
Yeah, it didn't take long after my post for her to be swallowed up. That Bermuda lady was something else - looked like she could have done another 10kms at the same pace.
I drink and I forget things.
Any links for the rugby?
Think the QFs are starting shortly ? Unless I misread the timetable

I think discovery+ are covering it. I've had both bbc and the likely eurosport channels recorded the last 2 nights. Fuck all.Ymx wrote: Tue Jul 27, 2021 8:04 am Any links for the rugby?

Gemuinely, there was never an Aussie leading that race.Enzedder wrote: Tue Jul 27, 2021 1:08 amYeah, it didn't take long after my post for her to be swallowed up. That Bermuda lady was something else - looked like she could have done another 10kms at the same pace.
Learmonth (GB) led throughout the swim, then the lead cycling group was GB, GB, Bermuda, Germany, Brazil, USA, USA before being whittled down.
Then Duffy smashed it ahead of flat tyre GTB.

All the money you made will never buy back your soul
Hopefully they show the quarter. They built my hopes up yesterday around this time too.Slick wrote: Tue Jul 27, 2021 8:25 amOn BBC nowJock42 wrote: Tue Jul 27, 2021 8:10 amI think discovery+ are covering it. GB haven't picked any forwards in their squad, that seems a bit daft
All the money you made will never buy back your soul
I think they got ahead and just pressed the cruise-mode button. As you say, they will need a lot more than that in the next round

They'll handle either GB or USA easily based on this game.
Why, GB were lacking in basics such as dealing with the kick offs (and subsequent loose balls) and defence was all over the shop in the first half.
USA got 21-0 up without having to do anything particularly well.
I've just been watching live on BBC1. Did the same with the last pool matches last night after the triathlon.Ymx wrote: Tue Jul 27, 2021 8:04 am Any links for the rugby?

So can someone with better knowledge than me answer a question:
If a player sticks a hand out and slaps a pass down - and backwards - should that be a penalty and yellow card?

This is going to be an interesting 2nd half.
Pretty sure it’s fine if it goes backwards, and think that part was missed in that. I believe the commentator made that exact point.Thor Sedan wrote: Tue Jul 27, 2021 9:25 am So can someone with better knowledge than me answer a question:
