2021 Tokyo Olympics thread
If you want to say Mo Farah was doping then just say it. This silly dancing around it is, well, silly. It's perfectly fine to be suspicious of him, there's plenty of reasons for it - and it's also fine to accept that while he won plenty his actual times were nothing special.

Well done Fiji women over Aus after having to contend with an 8th man ref. Good to see consistency across all versions of the game where refs try to stuff the underdogs.

only seen first half both GB tries of bouncing horrible passes that got the French defence out of shape.
Some lovely tries by France though.
Eh? NZ just played Fiji and beat them.Torquemada 1420 wrote: Sat Jul 31, 2021 6:50 am Well done Fiji women over Aus after having to contend with an 8th man ref. Good to see consistency across all versions of the game where refs try to stuff the underdogs.

Fiji concede what 7/8 pens in the half there? Surely a card?
Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot, But he'll remember with advantages, What feats he did that day
I was surprised at that as well, but Fiji are deserved winners. Just a shame they weren’t able to beat NZ in the semi-final.Paddington Bear wrote: Sat Jul 31, 2021 8:40 am Fiji concede what 7/8 pens in the half there? Surely a card?

The are rules.
French twitter believes Craig Joubert possessed Sarah Cox during this game.
They also believe that erasmus could make a 5 hour video
there is a bit of one eyedness I usually find miss Cox a bit heavy on the French (this is a bit tongue in cheek do not get on any high horses ...)

He had the ability of producing a fast finish if the race wasn't really quick. Wins the race, doesn’t get close to a record. Effectively, his opponents were selfish/stupid.Calculon wrote: Fri Jul 30, 2021 9:11 pm Dominating as in he kept winning those races. Anyway, he was clean unlike the East Africans who have ruined the sport.
He has only one world record time that I'm aware of - the world indoor 2 mile. Not sure how often that event is run or it's significance. He never ran particularly fast times, nothing freakish at all, just a quick finish. If his opponents ever ran a genuinely quick race he would be beaten

Not that it made much difference with all the East Africans stuffed to the eyeballs with drugs
Ethiopia rather than Kenya has often had "pacemakers" for their lead athlete and Ethiopians have better kicks, Kenyans might win a straight hard run race or evenly so Eithiopian's control the pace but Kenyans only vaguely work together. Not sure as Uganda is a recent race power.
However I know UK triathlon tended to pick athletes who can support the Brownlee brothers. E.g. a good cyclist, though recently that are all good at all 3 parts,
Dina Asher-Smith out of the Olympics. Poor girl, one of the favourites for the 200m gold!
"I pulled out of both Stockholm and Gateshead because in the trials final, I actually pulled my hamstring at 60m, I tore it pretty bad and I was initially told in Manchester that it was a rupture and that I would require surgery and it would take three to four months to get back.
"It's been a lot to deal with because quite frankly, with that diagnosis, I just can't go to Tokyo, so we had this whole statement ready to go but then I thankfully went and got a second opinion and it was a slight misdiagnosis - even though there was still a tear, it wasn't a rupture, my hamstring was still attached, so we turned over every single stone to make sure I can stand on the
It says something about athletics past with drugs when my 1st thought about a 34 year old running that fast was "hmm...seems sus". In fact anyone getting that close to Flo Jo feels a it suspect.
However as I do with most, until proven otherwise it is a great effort from all involved.

NZ comfortably the best side but that ref was a horror show. The restart try was a joke and epitomised her continual ignoring the requirement for the tackler to release. NZ ruled the breakdown because Fra never adapted to that. Another try was taken from a quick tap 2m in front of the offence.Kiwias wrote: Sat Jul 31, 2021 9:23 am Fully deserved Gold medal, Well done by the Black Ferns.
