I was about to ask if you cant take the vaccine if you're positive then I realised it's a stupid question. But I'm wondering now if they test before giving the vaccine (probably another stupid question) but many people have covid and don't even know they have it. A friend had symptoms but tested negative but his wife who hade no symptoms tested positive.

A colleague of mine tested positive for something like 6 weeks without showing any symptoms at all.

They won't give you the vaccine if you have tested positive within 3 months. I'm not 100% sure of the time frame but that is the CDC's recommendation. They do ask you when getting the vac.

When I phoned to cancel my appointment the pharmacy told me I need to wait 30 days after I stopped showing symptoms before I can have the 1st shot. So I will get my shot a month from this coming Monday (then I would have had 10 days isolation)

I think this is his second time. We know vokol about Covid. Each person get diffirent symptons. Some people take months to recover.

A total of 14 858 new Covid-19 cases have been identified in South Africa, which brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 2 342 330.

This increase represents a 26.5% positivity rate, the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) said on Thursday.


According to the National Department of Health, a further 433 Covid-19-related deaths have been reported, bringing the total fatalities to 68 625 to date.

The majority of new cases today are from Gauteng (34%), followed by the Western Cape (22%). KwaZulu-Natal accounted for 11% of the new cases; Limpopo and North West each for 8%; Mpumalanga for 6%; Eastern Cape for 5%; Free State for 4%; and the Northern Cape for 3%.

There has been an increase of 720 hospital admissions in the past 24 hours, with 16 999 people now being treated in the country's public and private hospitals.

President Cyril Ramaphosa may announce a return to Level 3 when he addresses the nation at 20:30 on Sunday evening after he met with premiers earlier in the day, where possible regulations were discussed.

This could result in the following measures being implemented:

The curfew will be adjusted to 22:00 to 04:00;
Gatherings at all establishments would allow 50 people indoors and 100 outdoors. This includes church and sports gatherings;
A maximum of 50 people at funerals would be allowed, with a two-hour time limit, with no night vigils or "after tears" parties;
Alcohol will be allowed for off-site purchase from Monday to Thursday until 18:00 and on-site consumption according to license conditions, but closing at 20:00. Duty-free shops at international departures will be allowed to sell alcohol without restrictions. Nightclubs must remain closed;
Schools will allow breaks at a maximum of 15 minutes;
Long-distance travel may allow 70% of capacity;
Safety protocols like the wearing of masks, sanitisation and physical distancing must continue;
Employers must encourage working from home where possible; and
Inter-provincial travel will be open, with the restrictions in Gauteng lifted.
These measures were subject to change at the time of writing.

On 27 June, Ramaphosa placed the country in adjusted lockdown Level 4, as the country was in the midst of a third wave of Covid-19 infections.

Two weeks later, the country remained at Level 4, but some restrictions were lowered. This included allowing restaurants to accommodate patrons for sit-down meals.

All social, political, religious and other gatherings remained prohibited, as did alcohol sales.

With the latest deliveries and donations SA gov doesn't have any supply excuse for the rest of the month to meet Ramaphosa's 300k target. Whilst it's not particularly ambitious it at least fits more than comfortably for desire to hold reserves for second doses.

However I still don't think the Feb22 40mm target is anywhere near good enough. If additional agreements and donations are received I don't think there will be enough demand in US/EU/JP to drag out potential of enough supply to hit 40mm first doses before y/e

People are just not even pitching for vaccines. Yesterday, Gallagher Estate which can literally handle 1000's was completely empty at 3pm and hadn't been busy all day. Same on Sunday as I took the GF there for hers.
