Motown
I cant see how you can call it nit picking, they are 2 totally different music genre's, akin to calling football, rugby.Globus wrote: Mon Aug 02, 2021 12:37 pm Nit picking Asmo. I know it was produced by Chic members in the days when the late Bernard Edwards was the bassist.
I have sites that I visit on a regular basis and one site I have a gentleman in late 60s/early 70s who runs my site there. Great guy, we have had many meals, talks, etc together over the years. Truly an operations master.
About 3 years ago while out visiting him, we went down the wormhole of music. He was asking me what I like and what not.
He then started talking about his music collection and I asked if I could stop by and listen. Well, I get to his house and he has this studio and on his wall was gold discs and what not.
And then there are pics of my friend with the Stevie Wonder, Stones, Three Dog Night, etc etc...
So my friend told me, yeah, I was with Stevie in the 60s and 70s...travelled all over the world, met great people, etc...but wife got sick of it...
But Stevie is still a friend and salt of the earth and still takes time to catch up, etc...
Cliff note version....Stevie Wonder is truly a great guy

She never issued on Stax either. She recorded some sessions at the Stax studios but everything was issued on Atlantic.
Motown was a record label that was good at popularising and monetising trends in black American music. Representative of musical eras, yes. An era in itself, no.
Got to disagree. But nice to have a decent discussion.Sinkers wrote: Tue Aug 03, 2021 3:02 amShe never issued on Stax either. She recorded some sessions at the Stax studios but everything was issued on Atlantic.

Thinly veiled "I met Globus" post.

Perhaps you could apologise to Sinkers for being such a contrary stupid arse

No apologies needed of course. I was happily being a plum on what could have turned out to be a good thread once we'd got past the bollox and started posting some decent music.SaintK wrote: Wed Aug 04, 2021 12:15 pmBully for youGlobus wrote: Wed Aug 04, 2021 11:02 amI know. You might like 30 minutes of Bill live on the BBC from back in 1973

Good shout. I have it and others on vinyl.Ovals wrote: Fri Aug 06, 2021 11:39 pm I wasn't a huge Motown fan, but it was the soundtrack of my teenage years - and most clubs/dance halls would have a stong diet of Motown. Good times.
Motown Chartbusters Vol 3 (1969) probably typified the music, and era, for me.
Yes they did, first charted in September 1963.Ovals wrote: Mon Aug 16, 2021 9:26 pmDidn't Brian Poole and the Tremeloes have a UK hit with that song ?
"Do You Love Me?" was the Contours' only Top 40 single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States. Notably, the record achieved this feat twice, once in 1962 (No 3) and again in 1988 (No 11).
