S24 still believe in Curwin Bosch
Sharks flyhalf Lionel Cronje and fullback Curwin Bosch showed the value of having two decision-makers dovetailing in their Currie Cup semi-final victory over Griquas at Kings Park on Saturday.
The "double pivot" deployment clicked into gear just in time to give Sharks head coach Sean Everitt confidence that the Durbanites can travel to Loftus with more than one ace up their sleeve.

It looked accidental to me when it happened, but I'll take the compliment!OomStruisbaai wrote: Mon Sep 06, 2021 7:19 am S24 still believe in Curwin Bosch

They'll struggle to keep it within record range, 26 points.Chilli wrote: Mon Sep 06, 2021 7:46 amI don't know so much.........the $harks will be up for this.
Just like the last Currie Cup final heyOomStruisbaai wrote: Mon Sep 06, 2021 8:09 am They'll struggle to keep it within record range, 26 points.

Those without a dog in the fight, who will you be supporting?
Me, I will be cheering on the saarks. They have so few CC titles, it really won't make a difference, Bulls are the only team with a shot of overhauling WP.

Curwin was tackling like a demon
Looks like during the break they worked on his tackling skills. Look. He is a phenomenal fullback if he tackles. I was very impressed with his game on the weekend.
He wasn't terrible at the weekend. Which I hope means he's changed the trajectory of his form.Sards wrote: Mon Sep 06, 2021 11:20 am Looks like during the break they worked on his tackling skills. Look. He is a phenomenal fullback if he tackles. I was very impressed with his game on the weekend.
Will be interesting to see how he gets on in the URC, with new locations and styles of play.
I think he is back in the right position. Look. In his breakout season at fullback he was collecting MOTM awards for fun. Not a bad thing to have him and Fassi there. Great depth for the Sharksassfly wrote: Mon Sep 06, 2021 11:27 amHe wasn't terrible at the weekend. Lad, you need new material.

An achievement would be forcing his way into the touring Bok squad.

He's not good enough, we all know that. I'm sure most Currie Cup players realise that this is as good as it gets for them.handyman wrote: Mon Sep 06, 2021 11:44 am An achievement would be forcing his way into the touring Bok squad.
So playing in his second Currie Final of the year, as well as featuring in one of the two $harks' games against the Lions is an excellent return for a player of his stature.
He could have been awesome, but these days you cannot hide a poor defender. I think he just does not have the heart for it.assfly wrote: Mon Sep 06, 2021 11:49 amHe's not good enough, we all know that. As you say, a good return for him

I always know Bosch best position is 15. Ox and Sards never agree.
That's where he played for Grey High.

We don't overhype our players based on school videos. Our team plays kak we boycott games. We aren't afraid to say it like it is. I lost all respect for Bosch when he kicked everything. Now that he has ball in hand he is flourishing. And his kicking for touch , kickoffs and posts is still the best I have seen in year's....across all teamsassfly wrote: Mon Sep 06, 2021 11:49 amHe's not good enough, we all know that. He is a very talented player, no doubt about it. He's scored some amazing tries when he keeps the ball in hand. But his defence - or lack thereof - has always been his Achilles heel and I for one ran out of patience with him this year.Sards wrote: Mon Sep 06, 2021 12:22 pm We don't overhype our players based on school videos. I think we did well to cover this problem when Rob du Preez was 10, AE was 12 and Bosch was 15. But we don't have the depth to cover him anymore.
Just good to see him getting some confidence back. 2019 he was in sublime form. But that was against the Kiwis, Aussies and Pumas in Superrugby. Since Covid he has been shite. It became painful to watch. Back at 15 he has been a lot more easier to watch. And he's tackling. Interesting technique which they have obviously been working on but it works.
Everett is showing confidence....
" we put ourselves under pressure by conceding too many penalties and then the yellow card in the last ten minutes that didn't help matters.
But we will work hard this week and make improvements where we need to , then go up to Loftus confident that we can turn the Bulls over"
Even our coach doesn't care about the Mockers

" Accuracy and killer instinct are certainly two things that the Sharks can work on before the final, for lack of those two things nearly cost them in this game "
I agree with this completely. This team doesn't have the passion of previous sides...its just do clinical or not .

Makes no sense to play him at 10 now with a good enough flyhalf there (Cronje, who is btw looking quite fit and strong again)OomStruisbaai wrote: Mon Sep 06, 2021 11:57 am I always know Bosch best position is 15. Ox and Sards never agree.

His speed is much better utilised at 15
Can move to 10 if he loses that

Cronje is below average. Chris Smith is a better flyhalf.Cartman wrote: Mon Sep 06, 2021 3:11 pmMakes no sense to play him at 10 now with a good enough flyhalf there (Cronje, who is btw looking quite fit and strong again)OomStruisbaai wrote: Mon Sep 06, 2021 11:57 am I always know Bosch best position is 15. The quicker Johan Goosen get into the Bok team the better.
"Following the announcement of their coaching staff shake-up for the first URC tournament last week, the Lions on Monday confirmed that they had signed four players from the Pumas for the tournament.
This includes Pumas captain and lock Pieter Jansen van Vuren, centre Matt More and highly rated loosehead prop Morgan Naude to go with playmaker Fouche"
