I suspect the Boks are mentally in a bad place right now, long before they even get onto the field. Rassie managed to manage it when we were in Japan for so long, but some of these guys have been in the Bok bubble since June.

Anyway. I will leave the geniuses to sort this out....my opinion is well documented. I have hated our game plan from day 1.

I know everything about working away from home. Done it for ages. You need a very good Mrs to support you and it's your choice. They are lucky to have a hobby for a job and earn more then most.boere wors wrote: Sun Sep 19, 2021 10:51 amIt is no excuse, right. When playing rugby is your job, and part of your job is that you have to be away from home for a while then rather quit ( like that lock did) and go home. Rather have a mentally tougher guy there, than someone can't cope.
Today feels so empty....
Like that tea bag that has been squeezed of all flavor.
I don't quite think Nienaber understands the impact back home.
To say that the coaches got their planning wrong is just not good enough.
Ah well. There is plenty of shit going on with the Sharks in the new tournament to keep me occupied the next few days.
Seriously not looking forward to the ABs match. It's going to be a slaughter

Ja I agree to a point, these guys are getting paid well to do this. But we're still dealing with human beings here who also need their emotions and mental health managed. I wonder what support they are getting.Chilli wrote: Sun Sep 19, 2021 11:54 am When playing rugby is your job, and part of your job is that you have to be away from home for a while then rather quit ( like that lock did) and go home. It's a good point about NJvR. I wonder what the personal reasons were?
A couple of scribes have also commented that away from the field the Boks are a bit ratty at the moment.

True - but these are twenty something year olds staying in first class hotels. Etzebeth's club salary is about R15 million rand. My grandpa was in Tobruk at that age. Although I don't for an instant think that NJVR wasn't justified in his decision. We aren't privy to what it was. If its depression or another mental health issue then its the right decision.assfly wrote: Mon Sep 20, 2021 5:53 amJa I agree to a point, these guys are getting paid well to do this. Well if you compare the All Blacks. They wanted to go on strike for not Xmast at home. They get maternity leave. Maybe that treatment makes the Springboks homesick.FalseBayFC wrote: Mon Sep 20, 2021 6:23 amTrue - but these are twenty something year olds staying in first class hotels. I think Duanne's tank may be a little empty physically. The fire may still be there but the body not responding. He'll almost certainly announce retirement from international rugby after this tour. He's signed on for a season in Ireland and deserves a chance to go and bolster his nest egg.Chilli wrote: Mon Sep 20, 2021 6:21 amDuanne looked disinterested in the last 2 testsassfly wrote: Mon Sep 20, 2021 5:53 amJa I agree to a point, these guys are getting paid well to do this. Eben also looks a bit flat physically. The Aussies played a high tempo game and the big lads didn't have their usual zip. A bit run off their feet.

I would like to see Nienaber select and coach that team first. Rassie's current gameplan is what it is, but he ignites passion and mongrel into the team.
The teams that have lost the last 3 tests have a lemsip and a walk, then go play.

You know that Frans Malherbe is a smoker. He need to take an entjie break every 10 minutes.
