Going back a few years not but watched Giri/Haji recently.
Got a bit silly in the last episode but the characters were enjoyable enough that it got away with it.
Working our way through Fargo at the moment. BBT's Lorne Malvo is something else.

That Giri/Haji ending was a disaster wasn’t it. Even if you forgive the rather laboured flight of fancy, the way they had to engineer it to get everyone on the roof was truly awful. Real shame because a lot of it was quality…Uncle fester wrote: Wed Sep 22, 2021 12:20 pm Going back a few years not but watched Giri/Haji recently.

Why tell me that now, ffs! 3 months away. Worse than x mas advertising
I hope they can keep themselves alive till then!Marylandolorian wrote: Wed Sep 22, 2021 1:59 pmDidn’t see the release time but Bateman said that they are filming until mid October, so beginning 2022 ?Grandpa wrote: Wed Sep 22, 2021 1:33 pm When is Ozark back?
The North Water with Colin Farrell and Jack O'Connell was worth watching. Farrell is brilliant. (BBC)

Started watching and then downloaded the book halfway through the series. Its an excellent adaption and Farrell is so well cast. It reminded me a lot of "The Terror". Henry Drax has a backstory of sailing in the Pacific and is tattooed in islander fashion. In the book he refers to the Marquesas Islands.Grandpa wrote: Wed Sep 22, 2021 1:33 pm When is Ozark back?

Still enjoyed it and it's an interesting east/west experiment but probably for the best that was the only season.
I see it has been compared to The Terror. I liked that they filmed it within the Arctic Circle... so was pretty authentic... If I didn't know it was Farrell I don't think I would have realised for ages....FalseBayFC wrote: Wed Sep 22, 2021 4:36 pmStarted watching and then downloaded the book halfway through the series. I get it from a friend
It seemed to be on Prime but not if you in SA where I live, like half the stuff on there, pricks
Yeah, also found it mostly enjoyable, but that rooftop scene in the finale was quite the stretch. Read somewhere that a spin-off about Rodney and Taki was being considered. No, thanks.Uncle fester wrote: Wed Sep 22, 2021 6:12 pmYeah, that is true.Mr Bubble Gum wrote: Wed Sep 22, 2021 1:19 pmThat Giri/Haji ending was a disaster wasn’t it. Looks much younger without it I reckon. Fresh even.Cartman wrote: Mon Sep 06, 2021 2:31 pm Billions
Wonder why Giamatti shaved his goaty- covid related?
Not so tough looking without it
This show though, ffs, it's gone and chased its own tail up its own arse. The dialogue, every character written with the exact same smug encyclopaedic knowledge of all popular culture.

Thinking about doing a rewatch of 1st 2 seasons. In the last 2 (!) barren years probably built 1st 2 seasons up too much in my mind and dont want to be expecting the moon on a stick.
Just incredible how every character (except Greg!) is such a revolting fucking deadshit. Constantly outdoing each other in the I'm The #1 Cunt Stakes.
I reckon its Marcia, the old fellas new wife who is the key intrigue of the whole series. She could fuck all of their backstabby plans up the arse I reckon
I think it would be a bit lame if she took over. She’s a housewife but with a rough past (probably criminal), but not someone who the script writers could credibly push to take over the media empire.Dismal Pillock wrote: Thu Sep 23, 2021 6:36 amThinking about doing a rewatch of 1st 2 seasons. I’d say the initial efforts by the script writers will be in keeping everyone out of jail so that the usual dynamic can continue.

Not a weak episode in the whole of Succession yet. My favourite of all time together with the Wire. They better not fuck up Season 3!

Don't think it would be her, she's already shoewormed her son into a high management position? I think we only saw him once. Could easily see her brutally dismissing all the sibling suitors and installing her son as COO. That would be one hell of a boardroom meeting episode. Tough to top the passive aggressive Last Supper vibe on the superyacht S2 final episode though. That was Alltime.Ymx wrote: Thu Sep 23, 2021 6:54 am I think it would be a bit lame if she took over. Some pressure on the writers now to not fuck up that utterly mental Tom and Greg "relationship" i reckon

I'm up to the last episode... it's ok.. not great. Being from the same makers it's got those silly unbelievable plot twists as Line of Duty...Ymx wrote: Fri Sep 24, 2021 8:00 pm Just started watching vigil from a recommendation.
Too early to say much yet. It’s just settling in episode 1 still.
Anyone watched it?

Spoiler
Show
sentimentality of the main woman's crybaby flashbacks about "my dead fiancee drowning in the car crash" and "my lost family" and "my lost lesbian relationship".
I stuck with it, it’s been pretty decent. Last episode tonight am looking forward to.Grandpa wrote: Fri Sep 24, 2021 11:30 pmI'm up to the last episode... it's ok.. not great. Foundation has started. First episode grew on me. Very space opera. I like it so far. Jared Harris as Hari Selden is great and Lee Pace is awesome as Brother Day.

I started watching the first episode the other night; & I could get over a few of the obvious "adaptations", to make it filmable; but having worked with a number of ex nukes; I have a really, really hard time reconciling these crew characters, with what I know are the basic requirements of putting a hundred plus people in a steel tube for 90 days.Ymx wrote: Fri Sep 24, 2021 8:00 pm Just started watching vigil from a recommendation.

These dramas all take a bit of artistic license, but Vigil was off the charts for me.
Remarkably silly. Especially the last episode.

I skimmed the last episode. It got a bit silly, and would say it’s not worth the hassle.Margin__Walker wrote: Tue Sep 28, 2021 6:17 am These dramas all take a bit of artistic license, but Vigil was off the charts for me.

I really enjoyed the first season of that. The second was decent, but I can't remember finishing the third or much about it at all.assfly wrote: Tue Sep 28, 2021 6:56 am Just begun watching Startup. So far so good; Martin Freeman is such a good actor and his character is thoroughly disturbing.

Finally got around to Ozark and working through season 1. Enjoyable enough but there's not a lot of sympathetic characters in the roster.
Witcher renewed for season 3
Babylon 5 being remade, bad news it's CW channel.
TVLine has learned that the reboot Straczynski is developing for The CW follows John Sheridan, an Earthforce officer with a mysterious background, who is assigned to Babylon 5, a five-mile-long space station in neutral space. Babylon 5 serves as a port of call for travelers, smugglers, corporate explorers and alien diplomats at a time of uneasy peace and the constant threat of war. Sheridan arrival triggers “a destiny beyond anything he could have imagined,” when an exploratory Earth company accidentally triggers a conflict with a civilization a million years ahead of us, putting him and the rest of the B5 crew in the line of fire as the last, best hope for the survival of the human race.

Oh dear, if anyone's capable of making something so bad it tarnishes the legacy of the original it's the CW.BnM wrote: Tue Sep 28, 2021 7:05 pm Witcher renewed for season 3

I like the look of that but subtitles after a 12 hour shift is not going to happen tonightTichtheid wrote: Fri Oct 01, 2021 8:46 pm We started to watch The Chestnut Man last night - another Nordic Noir series (Netflix).
