Have a hundred toilet rolls, 5 gallons of fuel and 50 pounds of rice and lentils is sensible and not paranoid imo. On the food side I just tend to buy a bit more rice and dried food. And then eat and replenish as needed. After the South African riot and looting episode I no longer think its a paranoid idea.

In the SADF we called it a Go Cart. It was like a little fibre glass potty. A place to talk kak an have a communal shit with a few other lads while smoking Gunstons. During the brief rainy season in Lohatla in NC or Grootfontein in SWA or wherever we where stationed it would become unbearable with flies.
The best view was at Mpacha in Caprivi from the Officers long drop which was a bit elevated and you could see the odd giraffe.
