the key seems to be picking an OH who can't kick snow off a rope; so he's forced to pass

I agree completely; they're rocking now, but Stormers need to capitalize; because they will come back at youde_Selby wrote: Sat Oct 02, 2021 7:08 pm Great stuff from Stormers this is more like it. Easy rugby it is tonight.
I don't think Munster have left the dressing room (another one for you fishfoodie)
Munster binding pen was fair, Stomps should not have been penalised the phase before.

The ref said that the turnover was fine, it was the player lying on the wrong side that caused the penaltySandstorm wrote: Sat Oct 02, 2021 7:17 pmMunster binding pen was fair, Stomps should not have been penalised the phase before.

Wtf? Ref
90 degrees
1.5 meters away from the play. He has just blown it again. Terrible
Well you can see he's consistent, it's cynical and intentional.sorCrer wrote: Sat Oct 02, 2021 7:22 pm1.5 meters away from the play. He has just blown it again. Terrible

Consistent you must be joking.de_Selby wrote: Sat Oct 02, 2021 7:24 pmWell you can see he's consistent, it's cynical and intentional.
yeah this is a good game. good to see an actual contest, thought it's only started looking like one for the last 15 mins or so
he gave the exact same penalty the other way. definition of consistent ffs
Your point on the Currie Cup looks solid. The best SA teams have been the Stomps and Lions regardless of what happens in the second half. Stomps the first SA side I've seen to put a strong first half together. The Stomps and Lions were also not that good in the Currie Cup, Bulls and Sharks were better. Sharks and Bulls may have targeted the wrong competition.FalseBayFC wrote: Sat Oct 02, 2021 5:54 pmThese guys have come off a CC competition where they often played every 5 days. Covid resulted in a real weird schedule for the Currie Cup. The Sharks played 10 matches in 74 days. No byes. Just prior to that they played 6 matches in the Rainbow cup._Os_ wrote: Sat Oct 02, 2021 4:26 pmWhat's happening in every match I've seen, is the SA team gets blown away early on then comes back in later after the match is lost. Like I said in my previous post the SA conditioning looks wrong for this competition, we're getting steamrollered early but then remaining in the game longer and doing something later on/at the end. If our sides were just rubbish it would be backwards for the full 80 minutes, but it's not going that way. In Super Rugby it often came down to the last 20 minutes when scores could swing wildly, teams were conditioned to still be explosive by the end of the match because if they were just all huge they would tire in the second half when the match really started and lose. Seems to be the reverse in this competition, lots of power coming at the SA sides early on and not as much by the end.
There also seems to be a skills deficit, but that's because the teams are loaded with rookies who don't have much experience at this level (other than the Bulls maybe).
Their conditioning is definitely off. Many of these guys have played 16 games in as many weeks. A big guy like say Eben Etz will lose kilograms of muscle during a campaign like that. Small niggling injuries will have a huge impact especially on the forwards.
Having said that I still believe the Saffer teams poor showing is due to inexperience and coaching naivete. We're paying our school fees here. These losses and minutes are all currency to be banked and will start to bear fruit sooner rather than later.
