Marx's "started retreating" means he didn't actually retreat at all - he ended up back where he started, not moving further back. Everyone else did a great job, but he initially advanced then only made a token effort to get out of the 10. It's the sort of penalty you see plenty of. You have to properly try, not just move forward, take a couple of steps back, then decide you've done enough.Blake wrote: Sun Nov 07, 2021 10:48 amThat was the claim by the referee and the TMO.
But YouTubers have shown that it was yet another bullshit call against the Boks by a TMO.
The only Boks that advanced were onside and all the Boks within 10m that were offside retreated.
The exceptions were Kwagga and Marx.
Kwagga was on the ground, and he retreated as soon as he got to his feet. Marx started advancing, looked up to see where the kick was, saw it was shallow and started retreating.
I’m actually pleasantly surprised how well the Bok players knew the law and adapted on the fly. Am has to be one of the smartest players we’ve ever had.
Glad we didn’t lose the match due to that call, but still annoyed that we got shafted by the TMO yet again.
Was very strange just how dreadful he was in the early rounds of the RC.Torquemada 1420 wrote: Sun Nov 07, 2021 12:53 pmMay be my favourite player: mainly because he always seem to calm and happy whilst playing.Slick wrote: Sun Nov 07, 2021 11:51 am Am is a tremendous rugby player, very intelligent, always seems to pick the right option, amazing range and subtlety of passing

Got some massive T Bones going before the the Scotland down the Wannabies.
I just wish refs and video review would come down more on offsides at restart kicks. My impression was that the French were taking the piss yesterday, but I haven’t been back over the match to be more sure. If a chaser going early gets two or three illegal yards and then possession from the challenge that’s quite a big advantage.

I appreciate the tactic, but clearly leaving the line-out with that much movement.
And if you're going to do it, it best work as well.

Quick tap was silly and I suspect has saved Australia a card as well

They hadn't been commed yet. Looked uncomfortable without limping

I'm fine with Poite's explanation that the lines had already been reset by the time Price got there to play it.

Ball was clearly grounded and this was obvious straight away. Hogg did well to con them but get on with it

Justice
Shouldn't matter, it was a cynical professional foul, unless the wallaby hasn't a bloody clue about the breakdown rules.TheNatalShark wrote: Sun Nov 07, 2021 2:36 pmI'm fine with Poite's explanation that the lines had already been reset by the time Price got there to play it.

Hogg made that point, and Poite disagreed.Blackmac wrote: Sun Nov 07, 2021 2:38 pmShouldn't matter, it was a cynical professional foul, unless the wallaby hasn't a bloody clue about the breakdown rules.TheNatalShark wrote: Sun Nov 07, 2021 2:36 pmI'm fine with Poite's explanation that the lines had already been reset by the time Price got there to play it.

Very well executed.
Ashman settling in well so far.
Very clever. Worried for the Boks next week.
Scotland are tricksy at the lineouts and with Russel and Hogg…tricksy in the backs as well. Boks are going to have to be wide awake to contain them.

Even Itoji would be embarrassed by that scrum penalty celebration.
