You might want to have a look at the highlights later on then.

Wot? That chicane at turn 1 is too narrow for F1 cars in 2021. FACT.

Yeah I'm not sure where either driver was meant to go. If we accept neither want to hit the breaks into the 1st turn then a crash was almost inevitable there.

That was one of the most entertaining races I've seen in a long time.

Pity about the big crash, but also opened up the rest of the race nicely.

Great to see McLaren get a 1-2.

I think they might need to make some alterations to that chicane, F1 cars have gotten so big now that there simply isn't room for the move that Verstappen was trying to make

I'm beginning to really dislike Verstappen. Absolutely no contrition on yesterdays incident that could well have killed Hamilton, didn't even have the grace to check he was OK as he walked off looking at his car on top of Hamiltons. Really beginning to show he's a privileged little prick, youth no longer an excuse.

I've enjoyed seeing Verstappen take it to Hamilton this season, but after that crash the least he could do was walk over to him and check he was ok or give him a hand out. To walk off the way he did was a bit shitty.

Well, Hamilton did put him into the wall at high speed at Silverstone.

That's true, and I appreciate the bad blood between them this season.

But considering that Hamilton was underneath his car, I would have thought a rudimentary "you OK mate" was in order.

And asked almost immediately over the radio if he was OK.

It was more about the dull racing comment. Turned out to be a rather interesting race.

Lap 26 was interesting. Ditto the glacial pit stop for Verstappen on 24. Bottas passed lots of cars until he got to 4th and.....um......the Haas' touched.

The rest was just a procession with the only overtaking spots being too narrow (turn 1) or easy to defend by taking the middle of the track (turn 4). Imola is lovely, but it's out of date. Plus the lack of high-speed corners means that they can all run minimal downforce and so DRS isn't much good either.

TBF he did look over, briefly, to him as the woke one was trying to get his car moving again.

It was a much better race without the two of them.

They’re kinks, not corners. Corners require downforce and the setup at Monza is minimal wing.

Norris has no grip at all. He’s hanging this out sideways. It’s smashing it down. Norris spins out.

Difference being Hamilton listened to the pit wall when they told him to pit and the McLaren wall wasn't strong enough to tell Lando to pit.

Verstappen benefitted the most from the rain, moving up to a very unlikely 2nd place.

That was some race. Lots of competition across the track.

Both Verstappen and Hamilton lucky with that result really.

Gutted for Lando. Obviously him and his team didn't make the right call on the rain, but still....

Just watched the highlights, that was great.

Didn’t do much for my pretty unfounded opinion that Lando is a bit of a brat.

The moment that Hamilton appeared out of the mist to overtake Lando could become quite iconic

That was painful to watch for Lando. I like the guy and it would have been a fitting 1st place for him. But watching him skid around the track whilst everyone went past him was horrific.

Actually it reminded me of the movie Cars, when Lightning McQueen refused to pit

TBF to Lando Mclaren have admitted the read the forecast differently to Merc and didn;t think the rain would get more intense, so didn't make the team call to get him to pit.

The Red Bull shat all over the Mercedes. It was on the cards....but an almost 20 second gap is painful.

Feels like Mercedes will admit defeat for this season.

The new rules at the start of the season have done exactly what the FIA hoped they would - got a different team on the top step (although the champagne will be a little bitter due to the fact it wasn't Ferrari).

Lewis showing his true colours there: 'it shows how quick the Red Bull car was, as even Checo was challenging me'

And no, I don't think he's a total arsehole: he's a competitive sportsman, but one who's become rather entitled over the last few years.

Hopefully Red Bull can keep the trend going in Brazil.

Another thing that has made races like this so boring; is the rooms full of strategists back at base; running thru simulations, on what will happen if you come in this lap, or in five laps time ...

If you just had a couple of blokes with stop watches on the pit wall; you'd have a lot more unpredictability; & drivers getting dropped into worse positions on the track; & having to overtake to get back to position.

Bottas coming in twice to deny Max the fastest lap, was particularly ridiculous too.I don't think that kind of spoiling crap, adds to the race. If you aren't in the top ten, you don't get to take a point off a driver who is in the top ten.

That’s not a bad idea. A point for the fastest lap of the drivers in the points. Would stop that farcical you’re in last place, have a smash at a fast lap.

I'll go one better

How about a point for the driver who makes the most overtakes of the day; regardless of their final position ?
