Willard Price, Alistair Maclean and Wilbur Smith. The only stuff I read as a 12 year old.

Wilbur Smith's books sold 140 million copies! In 2000 he married a 28 year old Tadjik women when he was 67 years old. He led a pretty full life and seemed a complicated individual.

I loved his books as a young lad. Pretty much all I read for a while.

Instead of studying for my leaving cert, I was reading all his books.

Not the best of human beings but his books were ridiculously immersive.
He had a right go at Cecil Rhodes long before it became "fashionable" to do so.
