I'm not going to stay up until midnight to see in the new year as usual.
Instead, I'll be staying up until midnight to make sure this year comes to an end with no unexpected last-minute surprises or variants.
Happy new year to those who celebrate this occasion.

Ja happy new year to you all. 2022 can only get better. 2021 was a vokker.

Yeah. Last year was really a tough one. For most of us. Wishing all our posters a prosperous and worry free 2022. May all your dreams come true. And Wishing all good health. Let's get through this mild flu version together and come through with better resistance 2022.
Above all cherish your families. Spend as much time as you can with them. Nurture your children. Grow them into the good version of yourselves. With life being so unpredictable every moment counts towards building your legacy through your children. Care for and forgive your family and friends. Let's be remembered for good things.

HNY (slightly early) from Bahrain. Home at last. Traditional ME new year; some Rioja, some tapas, some choons. Have a safe one everyone, all the very best folks.

And good riddance to the worst year of my life. Lost my father in law to Covid in Jan, then my wife in April. I woke up beside her dead body one Saturday morning, and cannot describe the trauma of that. Months of grief and depression, still ongoing.
Against a background of covid, I have been unable to visit my elderly parents in Scotland, then my dog dropped dead of a stroke at the front door. Some horrific gastric bug hit me before Xmas and I was unable to eat for two weeks.
Sorry to bring down the mood, but hoped I might find a few sympathetic ears.
Anyway, I wish everyone on here a great night tonight and all the best for a happy and healthy 2022

So Happy New Year and a blessed 2022 to all you geezers! I'll be spending the evening with close family enjoying a traditional Saffer braai and libation. While my Glaswegian grandpa was alive we had haggis and pipes and lots of Hogmanay traditions going on. Now that all the auld ones have died I really miss that part of it. I have two nephews learning the pipes with the Durban Caledonian Society. Hopefully by next year we'll be able to have the pipes back at our Hogmanay.

That's just hell on earth, I cannot comprehend how you've managed to cope with that grief, it's truly unimaginable. To be able to offer us your best wishes in the shadow of what you've endured is beyond words. If 2022 can be any better for you, I genuinely hope so but, reflecting on 2021, will always be understandably, terrible. Take care 'And 1 guest', good fortune certainly is overdue for you.And 1 guest wrote: Fri Dec 31, 2021 4:28 pm And good riddance to the worst year of my life. I shall stop complaining about my slightly below par 2021
2021 just had to take Betty White
3 weeks away from the big 100.
And then 2022 starts and Tony Blair gets a knighthood
I'd fast-forward to 2023, but I don't want to miss the Winter Olympics (though I'm sure Covid will feck that up as well)
Well, we can only try: Happy New Year all.

Lets all try to be realistic with our hopes for 2022; & just keep it to having the year suck less than 2020, & 2021 !
It's a low bar; but I'd happily settle for it right now.

F#ck!! I thought I was old and cynical enough to be pretty untouched by things but, by Christ you've got my sympathetic ear. I've had a lot of family and other major sh!t keeping me awake nights but I can't imagine what you've been feeling, hang in there we're here if you need us.And 1 guest wrote: Fri Dec 31, 2021 4:28 pm And good riddance to the worst year of my life. and yeah we shouldn't get carried away with optimism for 2022 but surely TF it's got to better than 2020 and 2021.

Puts a lot of others travails in perspective. Hope 2022 brings some respite and you can start to live life well again in honour of those that have past. Get up to see your parents as soon as, taking sensible precautions off course, but go. Be kind to yourself, keep talking and posting, and don't be sorry in the telling of your story, you've had an unimaginable time of it, and it's important not to bottle it up.And 1 guest wrote: Fri Dec 31, 2021 4:28 pm And good riddance to the worst year of my life. The Scots on here are a good bunch; so hopefully you guys can have a bit of a cabal during the 6N; & we can all start getting back to the normal pints, & chat, that we all rely on to keep on a mental even keel.
