He's telling us that you cant get on the bus if you don't buy a ticket. We'll yes, you would think that's fucking obvious but my argument is that what's the point of buying a ticket and waiting at the bus stop everyday for four years but there was never a bus to begin with.
No. That is not what I'm saying.

What I am saying is that Zondo was necessary and to dismiss it as irrelevant misses the point.

Achtung Stompie types who wish to promote StompieLand

Organising to fly family to CT from Durban/Joburg for the first school holidays. They've not been whilst I've been a few times but am a lousy tourist when it doesn't come to museums & such. Roster is 4 50-60 adults, 15 year old sisters and self.

I'm thinking 4-5 days Cape Town:
Day spent with aunt's daughter (Som west), may combine with a day of below
Robben Island & Waterfront
Cape Point & Table Mountain
Possibly driving up to around Ysterfontein (so) or something where you can do that quad biking.

3-4 days drive to George
Past Cape Arghalus (sp) + Mossell Bay.
Cango Caves + ostrich farm & Knysna? Wasn't there an elephant reserve somewhere near?
Drive back to CT through Paarl - wine estate (drivers obvs won't drink)

Accomodation probably just going to be AirBnB job.

What big tickets am I missing? One adult got a nasty bite so she will be in a boot. The other 3 are lazy so won't do anything too strenuous.

And why the hell are Durban - CT tickets so expensive? A third of the cost of my flight from London.

Who do we generally avoid for car rentals in SA.

I sold my place and would happily received you at Struisbaai.

Air tickets went up since lock down. You want to go to the Garden Route. Why don't you rather hire a car in Durban and drive to Cape Town iso of flying?

Visit the friendly City on your way.

Levi is back in town
IOL
Richard Levi muscles impressive WP to victory over Warriors in Gqeberha
By Zaahier Adams Time of article published 1h ago

Cape Town – Western Province stormed to a record-breaking seven-wicket victory over the Warriors on Day 3 of the CSA T20 Challenge on Wednesday.

The hosts had posted the equal-best highest score of the week thus far, but it was not nearly enough for a barnstorming Richard Levi and young Jonathan Bird. The WP openers wrecked havoc in the Powerplay, with Levi in particular blasting 40 off just 17 balls.

It was pure carnage from the outset with Levi muscling five boundaries and three sixes during his brief but brutal stay at the crease. Even though the veteran was back in the hut before the close of the fifth over, Levi had done his job.

The back of the chase was broken and Bird ensured the momentum was maintained with a 26-ball 39.

And when the former Bishops prodigy departed, the run chase was then master-minded by Dane Vilas (33 not out) and George Linde (34 not out) with an unbroken 66-run partnership that took Province home with 17 balls to spare.

WP had earlier done just enough with the ball to contain the dangerous Warriors batting line-up. Although opener Wihan Lubbe played nicely for his 69 not out, it was the WP skipper Wayne Parnell that kept everything in check with a superb four-over spell of 1/25.

Province are certainly looking like a dangerous outfit after two matches and top the log after two comprehensive victories.

Levi always was a big lad, now he's just fat. Still, kudo's to him for still getting runs.

SAB Newlands spring - the water they use to make beer with - is open to the public. Opposite the SAB entrance in Main Road Newlands. I fill a 20 litre every week for drinking and cooking. Cleanest water you can get. Next time you're in the Southern Suburbs bring a container.

Why? Seems excessive.
Boiling water kills bacteria and parasites in water. They get killed using chlorine and other chemicals in the water purification process anyway.

If you are concerned about water quality in Cape Town (even if you don't need to be) then you should rather install water filters to remove particulates that end up in the drinking water due to corrosion in pumps, pipes and taps.

You wouldnt know but there is a lot of stomach bug going around atm at the schools. They are asking parents to boil water as they suspect it because of the shortage of chlorine the bugs are getting into the water.

I do know about the stomach bug doing the rounds, but the rumour that it is in the water is WhatsApp BS.
Pretty much everybody at my office has had it over the last 3-4 weeks.

It's not in the drinking water.
City of Cape Town has released multiple statements debunking it.

You must see the sludge that has been passed as fit for drinking in some parts of Gqeberha.

Here is the CoCTstatement released on 17 Feb 2022:
The City of Cape Town is aware of fake news messages circulating in community WhatsApp groups, asking the public not to drink municipal-supplied tap water. Messages are also inaccurately linking typhoid fever mentioned in a recent article to the City’s water supply. The City of Cape Town assures residents that our tap water is safe to drink.
A quick search on Twitter shows news stories every year since 2017 about water quality this time of the year.

The reality is that there are MASSIVE levels of E.coli on the freshwater bodies around the city and due to the heat people are using them recreationally, getting sick and spreading E.coli everywhere getting shits.

There was also 3 Typhoid outbreak clusters but none of them could be linked to a common water supply.

But keep boiling your water if it makes you feel better. I don't and I'm the only one from my office who hasn't caught the stomach bug yet.
