I don't find it strange that a self made man like Stonehouse and a kid from a family of 9 siblings in a coloured township in Paarl might have had a problem understanding each other. Lobberts came from a cohort of POC players who were possibly didn't enjoy the kind of life skill support they do now. Jimmy came from a working class family in Krugersdorp. Guys like Cheslin Kolbe and his cousin world record 400m runner Wayde Van Niekerk come from similar communities but enjoyed a different fate.
I sympathize with Ashwin Willemse, Paul Adams, Ashwill Prince, Quinton Davids and Ntini. This was an awkward period in our history where we were pretending to be the Rainbow Nation but hadn't really got to know each other yet.
I completely understand how Ntini and Adams must have felt in that bombastic all white environment they were thrust into. One of the reasons why we have we have excelled at rugby and cricket since re-admission has to do with the pioneer x African gees/mana which we are able to bring to the sports. What we make lack in skill is made up with in boerekrag. The current generation are able to merge these into a new identity. Mapimpi and Rabada are two of these new breed.
