Merci Laurent.

Don't like the title. It will bring us bad luck. Sounds like the Italians will enjoy their pasta with frog legs.

I can already see what this game will be about. A French team coming out of a very intense camp with a view to be at their best in 7 weeks, playing sluggishly against fired up Italians. With the Toulousain not in great shape for various reasons, i can see this game as a frustrating game again. We may get the 4 tries we need to take away 5 points but France will not look like the team that blew the All Black away. More like the team that played Georgia in my opinion.

To be honest I did find a recipe ....

frog legs are nice but like a lot of white meat require garlic to be nice

I don't believe Italians are adverse to it.

I've not seen it, but I know that Italians do like to eat the snails which is also something that gets associated with France, so maybe.

It's a very inexperienced Ita side which will be at a bigger disadvantage at the start of the comp. Normally I'd be worried about the half back pairings but truth is, it won't matter who is at 9 or 10 because the forwards will far too strong for Ita.

What a lovely thread.

My 5 year old son is obsessed with snails after trying them last year and won't stop talking about trying frogs legs when we are over this summer.

I lke that Garlic flavor to the chat

My preview of the game:
Italy are a mystery to me. They had pretty decent 60 minutes against New Zealand and Argentina this autumn and I thought they were back and then... the Uruguay game was such a massive disappointment. Motivation was likely a factor and very much like France against Georgia, performance tends to drop for Latin nations when faced with a lesser challenge. But still... that game was an embarrassment for Italy. There are some nice talents in that side, and they've shown they can defend well and trouble the best teams (All Blacks for example). There is some firepower in the backs. But as a collective unit, they still fall short of the target, and I struggle to see Italy best France in Paris although they have a unique opportunity this time.

France, on paper, are no match for Italy, especially playing in Paris. However... the core of that French team has been badly impacted by COVID and a lot of players are way off their best form. If you watched a bit of Toulouse against Racing, you could see that Baille was only a shadow of himself or that Dupont was late and walking when he should have been running. Match fitness is the concern for Les Bleus and the coaches will have an interesting choice to make. Do they go for form over talent? Or do they throw in the core team to help them build their match fitness? In addition, I am pretty sure that the boys have been submitted to some pretty dense conditioning with a view to ensure that they perform well on the last game against England. And I am pretty sure they consider the Italian game as a warm up game. So I think we will see a French team that will not be in top condition....

So, all in all I expect that this game will likely be a slugfest with a few sparks of inspirations on both sides, but that ultimately, the French will prevail with an underwhelming performance.

Danty-Fickou and Penaud will be the saving grace for France, as our lock pairing. Less confident about our front row and back row, well out of shape, except for Atonio and Bamba may be, and Aldritt.

Was in Toulouse couple weeks ago and enjoyed delicious snails and ris de veau at Le Bibent. Wonderful.

My son had the pigeon farci au foie gras.

Love French food.

Many years ago we were travelling through France with friends and stopped for lunch at a local restaurant and Mrs Lobby, having decided she would try something new, asked for tripoux. The waiter looked rather surprised and explained in somewhat broken English that she had just ordered "er ... what you call in English.... er ... trip ... er ... tripe". "Oh Christ" she said, and quickly chose something else.

It’s tripe with loads of other awful shit added. If I hadn’t looked it up and accepted it as just plain old tripe I would never have understood quite how barbaric the French are

It has sweetbreads in it, they are nice when they are fried. Certainly no worse than the contents of a haggis.

France shade the culinary head-to-head. A last gasp break by Tripoux, finished in the corner by Andouillette and converted by Boudin Noir.

As for the rugby, I’m afraid I think France will put 60-70 on Italy, with a couple of Italian tries late on.

What about Tête de veau?

And I doubt the margin will be that large. The French will not be at their best against Italy, this is guaranteed. They are treating this game as the last touch to their training plan before Ireland, and will come in with heavy legs from their conditioning with the Foreign Legion.

Tête de Veau went off after a nasty head clash with Casu Frazigu.

They’ve been training with the Foreign Legion?! Fucking hell. They might have heavy legs but they’ll be marauding all over North Africa. Italy are going to get hobbed, knobbed and robbed.

I stand by 60-70.

France needs to win with a big margin if they want to stand a chance to win this comp.
