I think we've been a little profligate with the new ball. Yes, we've taken two wickets, but we've bowled too many leave balls and we've seen from the South African inning that batting gets easier as the ball gets older.

Roles well and truly reversed this week. Turns out we have to put in the effort.

I don't know why people assume that a legside strangle is somehow a bowling error which ought not to be rewarded with a wicket.

The Indians fell to a lot of these when they were here, yet it seems to be viewed as an unintended error which is undeserving and the batsman is regarded as having fallen to a foul ball.

Not able to watch it, but following the scores. This one looks like a good one. A lot of runs needed by the craps to level or get close. And looks like we are thin on batting stocks remaining. 2 more wickets and we will be with Kyle Jamieson.

Watching the odd Maharaj delivery poses the question again about whether we are to set in stone about not picking spinners in NZ.

School level is easy for spin bowlers. Everyone wants to be the next fast bowler and mostly chubby players spin the ball. You don't get many kids willing to risk their wicket to charge the slow bowlers. Both my boys spin. And yes they are chubby.
Sards you compare Milnerton Primary school with Grey High.Domingo is coaching Bsngladesh and the Proteas.
Oh man. You missed the innuendo. Never mind. Nips knows what I mean
What a lame joke. FWIW I was 1.7m tall in grade 12 and weighed 68kgs. No need to project your chubby kids onto others here

That's because Williamson is injured and Boult's ducking it (probably something to do with his career average of 50 against SA).

Marco Jansen - 5 Test matches so far

Bowling - 21 wickets @ 19.48
Batting - 109 runs @ 21.8

Tests against the no.2 and 3 ranked test teams. His physique reminds me of Aussie beanpole Bruce Reid. I hope he doesn't have the same injury issues.

He has a very smooth bowling action and it does not seem too strenuous on the knees

100 partnership up. It has been a good counterattacking stand. South Africa well on top still though and only a wicket away from exposing the tail.

How is Southee still batting at 9?

Anyway, all over 71 behind. It’s a shame the last two fell so fast as we could have been eying up a sub-50 deficit. 71 feels a lot more of a meaningful lead.
