Sergio Parisse in talks to extend his contract with Toulon for one more year, which would extend his playing career into his 40s. Could he make it to a sixth world cup?

Not a chance in my view, nor should they, maybe if there is some sort of friendly game give him a swansong, but anything more than that he should remain firmly on the shelf

Even if he's playing well enough to be there on merit? It's not like we have enough strength in depth (yet) to be overlooking players

Honestly it would be a wasted cap, give the new batch a chance to grow and play together, how would it look to them to bring someone who is at the end of their career back above them who are the future. Dont get me wrong, in his day he would have walked into most international sides, but not anymore.

Tbh his last few international seasons were a swansong. An excellent player who let the hype go to his head
Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot, But he'll remember with advantages, What feats he did that day

He did his best for Italy and then some.

Towards the end though you got the feeling it was at the team's expense. New breed are on hand now, lets see what they can do.
