Already suspended for the reckless red, but Paris have suspended him until the end of the season for discipline issues involving alcoholism. Looks like the end of the road for him in the capital.
Latu gone for alcoholism

6 yellows and 2 reds in 3/4 season should be enough to boot him without booze issues.
2 yellows a season isn't that intense. The reds are a problem, obviously.clydecloggie wrote: Wed Apr 13, 2022 9:23 am 6 yellows and 2 reds in 3/4 season should be enough to boot him without booze issues.
edit: There are 18 players in the Premiership with 2 or more yellow cards this season. More in the Top14 (and they have loads with 3, not just 2). Only 3 in the Pro14. Very interesting discrepancy, but I suspect the difference in refereeing is the explanation here.

2 yellows isn't but 6 is. He has played in 21 club matches this year and been carded in 7 of them. 6 of those games he has started in missing 60min for sin bins plus another 30 or so until an inevitable hooker sub, plus the last 15 or so last weekend.JM2K6 wrote: Wed Apr 13, 2022 9:31 am2 yellows a season isn't that intense. Causing your team to play with 14 men for a third of games you are involved in is a huge issue.
Totally agree, and I just realised I misread "3/4 season" as "3/4 seasons" rather than "3/4 of a season", so while my stats gasm was fun, it's also completely off base. The red and yellow cards listed are for this season alone, not the last 4 seasons. To pick up 8 cards in just three quarters of a season (less if you count the number of games missed for disciplinary reasons), and with two of them being red, is pretty special, and makes even Lavanini's disciplinary record look reasonable.JM2K6 wrote: Wed Apr 13, 2022 9:31 am2 yellows a season isn't that intense. I don't blame you for misreading it. 8 cards in 21 games is special.JM2K6 wrote: Wed Apr 13, 2022 10:12 amTotally agree, and I just realised I misread "3/4 season" as "3/4 seasons" rather than "3/4 of a season", so while my stats gasm was fun, it's also completely off base. I think over the 21 games he has caused his team to play over 90mins with 14 men. Terrible discipline.

The coaching team at Stade have said the latest card is on them for picking him to begin with. Exactly how obvious it was his issues meant he doesn't belong on a rugby pitch I don't know, but he's got some work to do to earn another chance, work that could easily take him longer than his ban (whether the club or game one)
The fella supposedly had problems w/- the likker when he was here in Straya. Not good and I hope he takes immediate action.Torquemada 1420 wrote: Wed Apr 13, 2022 9:01 am https://www.rugbyrama.fr/rugby/champion ... tory.shtml

Was just about to mention this, the coach blamed himself for picking him which was magnanimous but must surely mean Latu is finished in the Northern Hemisphere. Back to Australia for him.

Possibly it's magnanimous, but it could also be the coach feels personally betrayed and that would be worse for Latu.Kawazaki wrote: Wed Apr 13, 2022 11:18 amRhubarb & Custard wrote: Wed Apr 13, 2022 10:47 am The coaching team at Stade have said the latest card is on them for picking him to begin with. Hopefully he's not finished anywhere, but for the game it's not about him it's about the other people he might maim
First thing is that Stade and to an extent the ARU have a duty of care to the the player. He has played for both this season. Discipline issues aside, if the alcohol issues are real and not overblown to help push him out, he needs help to beat his problems.
Get that under control and then help him on the field. If he is still a liability after that then deal with it.
A move back to Aus may still see him at the RWC.

I mean on pitch. Wondering if he was always a drinker but it's deteriorated and affected his judgement / timing.
And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?

Not really. There isn't the same drink culture in France as in, say, Aus or NZ. Where there have been problems have usually been with foreign contingents e.g. Kelleher.
Hard to find the stats but it doesn't look like it.Biffer wrote: Wed Apr 13, 2022 12:14 pmI mean on pitch. Wondering if he was always a drinker but it's deteriorated and affected his judgement / timing.
Ta. Wonder if it has got out of hand this year and had an effect it wasn't previously having.
It's noticeable in the clip the way his team mates react. There's a touch of 'aww ffs not again' about some of the body language.

Always struck me that those of us from an Anglo drinking culture can very easily fall foul of French style drinking culture. A glass of wine at lunch into a bottle etcTorquemada 1420 wrote: Wed Apr 13, 2022 12:27 pmNot really. There isn't the same drink culture in France as in, say, Aus or NZ.
